The Ocean Alexander 88 Skylounge is an 88-foot luxury motoryacht with an enclosed flybridge that was produced by the iconic Taiwanese brand between 2017 and 2020. Crafted in partnership with renowned naval stylist Evan K. Marshall, the 88 Skylounge represents the culmination of 40 years of design evolution for Ocean Alexander Yachts, boasting the classic, sporty lines that have made this firm an industry giant. Guests can enjoy the best of both worlds up on the flybridge, with the rear portion of this raised space dedicated to an al-fresco lounge with an aft-sunpad and a jacuzzi spa-pool. An open-air wet-bar with a barbecue grill and a pair of L-shaped dining sofas with a granite-topped tables can also be found out here, while sliding glass doors lead into a raised bridge lounge with a pair of elegant sofas, armchairs, a bespoke coffee table and an upper helm station. This helm features a trio of white leather Stidd chairs, Garmin multi-function touchscreens, bow and stern thruster controls, a Glendinning Station Keeper system, joystick handling, chrome-lined analogue instrumentation and superb visibility.
You can work on your tan out on a foredeck with a double sunpad, or, to escape the midday sun, head to a teak-lined aft cockpit with a walk-in wet bar and a transom dining sofa that surrounds a glossy teak breakfast table. To stern there is a hydraulic swimming platform that is sturdy enough to lift a modern jet tender.
Sliding glass doors lead to a sophisticated main-deck salon with satin-finished walnut paneling, hardwood floors, panoramic windows, veneered accents, a Venetian mirrored bulkhead, steel and bronze-effect fixtures and golden-hued strip lighting. There is an L-shaped upholstered sofa and a pair of bespoke armchairs to aft, while a stone-topped wet-bar and a dining table for up to ten sit amidship. At the front of the main deck there is room for a walk-in galley with pale granite work surfaces and Jenn-Air appliances like a four-zone hob, a microwave, a convection oven and a double-width American-style fridge-freezer with a water dispenser. Ahead of this sits a forward dining lounge with views out of sloping windscreen glazing and a skipper’s door.
Four lower-deck en-suite cabins provide sedate sleeping space for up to 8 overnight guests, with a pair of twin rooms and a VIP double stateroom to the bow occupying the front portion of the hull. Amidship there is a full-beam owner’s stateroom with a king-sized bed, a work-desk, a side sofa, a pair of walk-in, cedar-lined closets and an en-suite with granite counters, a pair of porcelain sinks and a waterfall shower cubicle with a non-slip teak sole. Additional crew quarters are accessed via a transom door and feature private facilities.
Designed for long-range cruising, this is a yacht that boasts balance, speed and stamina in equal measure. A pair of 1600MHP Caterpillar C-32 or MTU 10V diesel engines fire this yacht to top speeds of around 21 knots with cruising speeds of between 10 and 18 knots. At the lower end of the cruising range, you can enjoy piloting this vessel far and wide for up to five days with 10% of fuel left in reserve.
