The Ocean Alexander 102 is a 102-foot superyacht presented by the Taiwanese yacht firm Ocean Alexander at the 2006 Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show. Elegant lines and tapered siderails give this yacht a classic, timeless look, with a well-tested Ed Monk Jr.-designed hull that slices through the water like nobody’s business. Formerly known as the 98, the 102 can be customized to include a stunning cockpit with either an open flybridge or skylounge. Though production stopped around 2012, this yacht is still popular on the used and charter markets.
Curving stairs sit on either side of the swim platform, which features staple rails for safety and lead to the California deck lounge. This space boasts a long dining table with a settee and additional freestanding chairs, seating a total of eight guests. The addition of an optional aft lower cockpit, enclosed by the transom and flush with the swim platform, creates an open, versatile space for sportfishing, diving, and entertaining. A long countertop acts as a wet bar, bait prep station, and grill with plenty of storage.
The salon is a sophisticated but relaxed affair, with glossy Japanese cherrywood panels and cabinetry that carry through the rest of the magnificent Jon Pokela-designed interiors. Two comfortable facing sofas with matching coffee tables invite conversation, while a forward eight-person dining table is ideal for more formal meals. The forward section of the main deck houses a country kitchen and sumptuous dinette with spectacular views from the sunken windshield. The exceptional kitchen is U-shaped, with three bar seats along one of the curved countertops.
Whether you choose the skylounge or open version of the 102, the flybridge is sure to be the social hub of this yacht. The aft deck has room for launching two watercrafts, while a forward lounge area features a plush L-shaped sofa, dining table, and a full wet bar with bar seating. The forward pilothouse features an impeccably finished helmstation with five multifunction screens and three Stidd seats. The sunken windshield provides great visibility, while side doors enhance maneuverability. With a day head and a further wet bar to port, you’ll never need to leave. An optional Jacuzzi elevates the considerable luxury of this space, perfect for soaking under the stars.
Below deck, five staterooms sleep up to 10. Amidships, the full-beam owner’s suite and two double cabins are accessed via starboard staircase in the salon. The owner’s suite is a true sanctuary, with his-and-hers bathrooms with dual access to an enormous walk-in shower. A portside VIP suite has a large en suite bathroom, while a slightly smaller double cabin lies to starboard with its own en suite. An additional en suite double is situated to port, while a cabin with two twin beds is found at the bow with access to the lower deck day head.
The 102 is powered by twin 1,500hp MTU engines that reach a top speed of 24 knots. A cruising speed of 18 knots has a range of 702nm.
