The Ocean Alexander 62 Pilot House is a 61-foot motor yacht with a flybridge that was produced by the award-winning Taiwanese yacht-building firm Ocean Alexander between 2010 and 2012. Crafted in collaboration with long-standing OA partner Ed Monk Jr., the 62 Pilot House presents a sleek and sporty profile with classic lines, rounded windows, a sharp bow and an aerodynamic flybridge canopy. Lavish hand-finished interiors, meanwhile, offer a sedate and refined space in which guests can relax in supreme comfort, while powerful engines and a rugged hull make this a great coastal cruiser.
A sheltered and centrally located upper helm sits at the very front of the flybridge behind a Venturi-style windscreen and just ahead of a loveseat and an L-shaped upholstered sofa with a cocktail table. Behind this you will find a wet-bar station with chilled storage and an optional barbecue grill, as well as space to the rear for sun loungers and tender storage with a Steelhead Marine hydraulic davit.
Down on the main-deck guests can sun themselves out on the broad foredeck or head back to the washed-teak cockpit where timber brightwork, a wet-bar station and room for a dining table await. Curved side steps back here lead down to a fixed swimming platform with stainless steel guardrails from where you can begin your watersports adventures.
A single sliding glass door leads into a handsome salon with finely threaded carpet or Afromosia flooring, cherry wood surrounds with a satin finish, burled accents and even a bulkhead with Roman pillars either side of a home entertainment system. An L-shaped sofa to starboard hugs a glossy timber dining table while to port there is room for a pair of armchairs and cabinetry.
A few steps up take you to an expanded pilothouse room with a U-shaped dining sofa and an open galley. The kitchen boasts silestone or granite work surfaces, a Gaggenau oven, a Kenyon three-zone hob, a wine cooler, a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher, a Jenn-Air microwave and fridge-freezer tower and a stainless-steel Franke sink, not to mention heaps of secure storage for food or glassware. The main-deck helm meanwhile benefits from superb visibility through sloping mullions and a Furuno NavNet package with a pair of display screens, bow and stern thruster controls, an AXIS camera, Simrad autopilot, Maretron GPS, a Nobeltec navigation system, KeyPower stabilizer switches, ICOM VHF radio, a map desk, an oversized timber steering wheel and an adjustable Stidd helm chair in black leather.
A popular three-cabin, two-head layout on the lower-deck provides spacious sleeping quarters for up to six overnight guests, with a port-side twin and an en suite VIP double with a skylight and raised portholes occupying the front portion of the hull. Amidship there is a full-beam owner’s stateroom boasting a king-sized bed, a pair of full-height, cedar-lined lockers, a work-desk, cabinets, vertical portholes and a granite and timber lined bathroom with an enclosed shower cubicle.
A pair of 700mhp Caterpillar C-12 diesel engines fire this yacht to top speeds of around 21 knots with cruising speeds just a few knots below this mark. A fuel tank holding 1,000 US Gallons of diesel, meanwhile, should keep you out on the water long after rival yachts have headed back to harbor for refueling, making this a great option for those who love extended island-hopping trips.
