The Ocean Alexander 52 Sedan is a 55-foot sedan-style cruiser yacht with a flybridge that was produced by the iconic Taiwanese yacht brand between 2006 and 2009. A classic European-style exterior designed by naval architect Ed Monk Jr. features clean lines, geometric glazing, a sculptural flybridge canopy, a sharp bow and a curved transom, while wood-lined interiors boast an effortlessly sedate feel.
The flybridge may not be the biggest on the market for an Ocean Alexander Yacht, but a masterful use of space creates room up here for an L-shaped sofa in piped upholstery with a triangular cocktail table, a wet bar station with a grill and space to the rear for a pair of sunloungers or tender storage. You will also find the main helmstation on this level, with a centrally-positioned dashboard that boasts a Furuno NavNet system, Simrad autopilot, bow and stern thruster controls, Niad stabilizer switches and VHF radio all facing a set of two Stidd helm chairs.
Down on the main deck there is a double-width sunpad with marina-facing views out on the foredeck, while the sheltered aft-cockpit, lined in weatherproof teak, features a transom bench sofa and space for an oval al-fresco dining table and another wet-bar. Side steps back here lead down to a fixed bathing platform with guard-rails, from where you can embark on warm-water swimming adventures.
It seems like veneered teak, lacquered holly and polished exotic hardwoods cover every square inch of a timeless main-deck salon that is accessed via timber-framed sliding glass doors to aft. A rounded cabinet tower to starboard hides an HDTV system, while a C-shaped leather sofa to port hugs a teak-topped coffee table and a pair of slide-out Ottomans. Further forward there is an open galley with pale granite counter-tops, Afromosia flooring, a fridge-freezer tower, a combination microwave, a three-zone hob, a stainless steel sink and plenty of storage, while across from this there is U-shaped dining sofa with a breakfast table.
A comfortable three-cabin and two-head layout on the lower deck makes this vessel a superb choice for extended cruising. A twin bunk berth to starboard is joined by a VIP double to port with a bedside cabinet, a full-height cedar-lined locker, soft carpeting, porthole windows and a bathroom that doubles as a day head. The owner’s stateroom sits up against the bow and benefits from a double island bed, oval portholes, a pair of full-height closets and a bathroom lined in lacquered timber with granite counters, a porcelain sink and an enclosed shower cubicle with bench seating.
A pair of 576MHP Caterpillar C9 diesels or two 540MHP Cummins QSC8.3 engines provide top speeds of around 26 knots with cruising speeds clocking in at approximately 20 knots. A fuel tank holding 600 US Gallons of diesel, meanwhile, should keep you out on the water for days on end without needing to refuel.
