History Of Azimut Yachts
In 1969, Azimut Yachts was founded by a young university student, Paolo Vitelli, and he began chartering sail boats. A few steps forward in 1970 is when Azimut Yachts quickly expanded its operations; apart from distributing their boats to Italy, they decided to start designing yachts. They had an immediate success with the AZ 43-foot Bali, a mass-produced fiberglass boat that was created in joint venture with Amerglass. After having such big success, they then began to focus on the lower end of the market – with this market in mind, Azimut Yachts launched the AZ 32-foot Targa in 1977. This particular yacht was nicknamed the ‘Ford T’ of the boat world. Then came the debut of the Azimut 105-foot Failaka in 1982, this was the largest mass-produced yacht in fiberglass at its time. A few years later in 1985, Azimut Yachts acquired Benetti. Benetti was a historical brand, based in Viareggio, which have been building boats since 1873 along with designing concept mega yachts. With Benetti now in Azimut’s pocket, Azimut Yachts were now able to construct its own yachts, defining new styles and standards for the industry. The nineties and beyond, with the accusation of new boat yards at Fano and the restructuring of the Benetti boat yards at Viareggio and so on, went on to become the foremost builder of yachts and mega yachts! All the thanks to numerous business successes and an investment policy, this leadership position was confirmed in subsequent seasons which has Azimut’s technological and production capacities over the years with sites now established in Brazil.
For anyone who purchases an Azimut Yacht, the first reason is because of their beauty. Other than there subsequent appearance, there ate intrinsic values that also come into play for many yacht buyers such as comfort, safety features, the level of technology aboard and last but not least, elegant living solutions. Each model in the Azimut range reflects the attention to all details and the style of Italian manufacturing. All construction required in production is in the most efficient and advanced technology way. In fact, Azimut’s technologies are always designed to deliver safety and comfort to all yacht owners. Azimut Yachts has standards very high for all qualities that go into their yachts; design, technology, materials, components and human expertise. This philosophy is very possible for Azimut because Azimut Yachts has put their entire income back into the company for over more than forty years. Doing so, gave them the ability to invest in personal training, technological research, product development, upgrading and so on. This is why it has been possible for Azimut Yachts to be the number one boat yard of choice in the world for fifteen years.
