Valhalla Boatworks V-55

SUMMARY

A new flagship model has been announced by the luxury center-console builder Valhalla Boatworks at the company's annual VIP Event in Riviera Beach, Florida. The new Valhalla V-55 will begin production this summer and make its debut at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, a distinction usually reserved for the larger luxury sportfishing models built by Viking Yachts. SI Yachts has already secured build slots for the Valhalla V55, so please call us at 1-718-984-7676 or email us at Sales@SIYachts.com with interest.

“There will be nothing like it,” says Viking President and CEO Pat Healey. “We’re setting a new standard by bringing together the qualities of a large center-console and a luxury sportfishing yacht.” Known for exceptional speed, handling, planing, comfort, and fishing features, Valhalla has taken the center-console market by storm thanks to Viking's stellar reputation for building boats that raise fish and win tournaments. "You have to order fast if you want to secure a new Valhalla in this market," said Rich Lucas, Viking Brand Manager for SI Yachts. "Their reputation is creating a strong demand. We're seeing Valhalla's at tournaments, as second boats, as tenders to larger Vikings and superyachts. There is a high-level of quality in the construction, equipment, and details that is appealing to our clients that want the best of both worlds."

The Valhalla V55 will have several notable attributes:

  • Largest resin-infused center-console of its kind
  • Largest center-console ever built with the Michael Peters Yacht Design Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel
  • First center-console under 60-feet capable of over 3,000 HP
  • Is equipped with a 15kW generator - the largest from 50-60 feet
  • Is equipped with a Seakeeper Gyro 9 - the largest from 50-60 feet

Construction

As mentioned above, the Valhalla Boatworks V55 is the largest center-console of its kind to be fully resin-infused with blister-resistant modified vinylester resin. The hull is constructed with fiberglass and a hybrid E-glass/carbon fiber with a closed cell PVC foam core. The result of this combination is superior strength and stiffness, while minimizing the weight of the boat. The stringer grid, engineered for the Seakeeper Gyro 9, has been resin-infused as well, as has the liners and hardtop.

A high-performance isophthalic gelcoat is added that has excellent gloss flexibility and outstanding weathering characteristics to ensure your V55 looks spectacular for years after purchase.

There are also a variety of color choices to customize your V55:

Design & Performance

The Michael Peters Yacht Design Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) has been integrated into every Valhalla Boatworks model and the V55 will be the largest center-console in the world to use it. This design incorporates a classic deep 'V' hull with two transverse steps and a centrally located tunnel aft. This central tunnel distinguishes the MPYD creation from other stepped-hull center-consoles and improves the stability of the boat during high-speed turns.

Because the transverse steps reduce the amount of surface area under the boat getting wet and the tunnel ventilates with air, drag is greatly reduced which in turn, creates a faster boat with less planing time. Efficiency is also improved.

The V55, while having an overall length off just under 56-feet, also has a wide beam of 15' 6". To compare, a competitive brand of similar size has just a 13-foot beam. The extra space provides more room for a variety of features including larger live-wells, more fishing space, extra seating, more fuel capacity, and more benefits.

Features For Anglers

While the V-55 is certainly luxurious enough to be the perfect tender for a superyacht, let's not forget what is in its DNA. Anglers looking for a center-console that can compete in offshore tournaments, while providing the amenities of a sportfish, will find the V-55 beyond sufficient in every way. From Gemlux hardware to Garmin (or Simrad) electronics, there is nothing you can't do in Valhalla's latest model that you couldn't do in a sportfish of similar size. Here are a few of the standard and optional features on the new V-55:

  • Dual 65-gallon live-wells with pressurized fiberglass lids in the massive cockpit
  • 6 Gemlux Stainless Steel Rod Holders in the cockpit, cockpit coaming
  • Fiberglass hardtop with Lumitc mirage spreader lights, molded-in electronics pod, Gemlux Outrigger poles, and teaser reels (Installed by Palm Beach Towers)
  • Option for additional in-deck live-well (Not applicable with Seakeeper)
  • Hooker Sea Chest System for lively, healthy bait
  • 2 Insulated Fishboxes Aft and 1 Fishbox Forward with Whale Gulper Pumps
  • Tackle storage with Plano Boxes and a large drawer behind the backrest of the seats

Seating & Helm

Even if the bite is slow, at least you will be perfectly comfortable on the Valhalla V55. There are two rows of seats under the hardtop for a total of nine forward-facing chairs that all have flip-up bolsters and arm rests. All of the seats are on the raised teak platform which helps with visibility. The first four chairs in the first row are all Release Marine chairs that come with electric slides for adjusting. The second row can either be 4-5 Release Marine chairs or a Costa Marine bench. Additionally there are four seats on the aft-facing mezzanine and two optional GG Schmitt fold-down transom seats located in the corners of the cockpit. Forward are a pair of seats with optional teak backrests port and starboard. Owners have the option of adding a bow table here for dining.

The helm station is neatly and thoughtfully laid out with captain-friendly features. Visibility is excellent in 360-degrees. The captain and guests are protected from weather by the ProCurve solid glass enclosure. The helm's black acrylic dash holds three very large multi-functional displays, as well as a row of Bocatech switches underneath. The helm pod can either be solid teak or a faux teak. Owners can choose between Garmin or Simrad for electronics, as well as add on an entertainment package and a Nautic Alert Satellite Tracking System.

Accommodations

The Valhalla V55 offers more interior living accommodations than any other center-console in its class thanks to the large beam. The amenities below deck offer Viking-like comfort with a copious amount of headroom, beautiful woods, fine fabrics, and ample storage space.

Easy access is produced to the air-conditioned interior through a sliding door near the console's starboard aft end. This is where the 15kW diesel generator earns its keep with all of the A/C, electronics, refrigerator, microwave, and other equipment that must be run. The salon as a ceiling 6-feet and 10-inches high for a surprising feeling of space. Additionally in the salon area is a galley with a Corian countertop and all of the amenities needed to feed everyone on board. Portside is a L-shaped lounge with a drop-down dinette table that can easily be converted to an extra bunk. There is a 32-in television that faces the dinette.

Forward is the private cabin on the V55 that features a raised queen-sized berth with room to walk around it and storage underneath the mattress. Another 32-inch television is on the wall and there is an ensuite head with vanity/sink. On the starboard side is a separate enclosed shower. Farther aft is a bunk area that features a pair of single berths that can be a perfect option for a couple, kids, or extra space for your crew.

A big addition to the entire is the integration of two Bomar overhead hatches and two portlights on both sides of the cabin for excellent ventilation and natural light.

Power Options

The Valhalla V55 is powered with either quad or quint Mercury 7.6-liter V12 600-HP Verado outboard engines for either 2,400 or 3,000 horsepower. In fact, the V55 was specifically engineered for these engines thanks to a transom and structure to support the weight. "We prepared for - and are working with - the technology rather than adapting to it," said Lonnie Rutt, Viking's VP of Design and Engineering.

The V55 will also hold 1,200 gallons of fuel, which is up to 300 gallons more than competing models, giving it a better range and more time for you to fish. Additionally, there is an electrically operated fuel-management system that allows each engine to draw fuel from designated tanks. The result is better reliability and utility in performance.

Optional Tower

Viking's subsidiary Palm Beach Towers provide the best towers in boating and will outfit your V55 with the style of your choice. Owners can customize their boat with either a gap tower or a fold-down Marlin tower with a removable sunshade. The hardtop is loaded with features from Lumitec mirage spreader lights, to light bars, rocket launcher, a molded-in electronics pod, Gemlux outriggers, electric teaser reels, and the underside can be painted to match the boat.

How Much Does The Valhalla V55 Cost?

The base price of the Valhalla V55 is over $2.8 million when outfitted with the quad Mercury V12 600HP engines. As the desired options are added, such as the Seakeeper, electronics, tower, an other accessories, the price will obviously increase.
