The Sunseeker Predator 54 is a 57-foot sportscruiser yacht that was produced by the British yacht-building firm Sunseeker between 2009 and 2012. Replacing a previous iteration of the Predator 54 that was launched in 1998, this newer model combines a curvaceous profile and a painted hull inspired by European yachts from the golden age of sailing with all of the ultra-modern style, high-performance engines and spacious accommodation required for pleasurable weekend cruising. Though no longer built at the Sunseeker yard in Poole, England, this yacht remains a popular choice on the used and charter markets.
Out on the foredeck and safely enclosed by high, stainless-steel guardrails you will find a three-seater sunpad, with another large, elevated sunpad positioned at the transom. At the stern there is a full-beam, teak-lined swimming platform with a hydraulic panel that can be lowered into the water, as well as a tender garage with a sloping door that can accommodate a range of modern water toys. The cockpit on the Predator 54 remains open at the rear for a breezy feel, while cresting wave windows and a retractable electric sunroof opens this internal space up for plenty of natural sunlight. Tracing the transom and port-side of the cockpit there is a hook-shaped leather sofa with a breakfast table, across from a starboard wet-bar with a Kenyon griddle, a Raritan ice-chipper, a stainless-steel sink and a drinks chiller, from where you will enjoy grilling your fresh shrimp and mixing sherry cobblers. At the front of the cockpit there are a pair of loveseats with one directly facing the main helm station. The walnut-lined helm boasts a teak-trimmed, hydraulically assisted steering wheel, trim tab controls, Simrad or Raymarine electronic display screens, optional bow thruster controls, VHF radio and all the equipment required to chart your course down to the Florida Keys.
On the lower deck there is a spacious salon with fitted, waterproof carpets, an L-shaped upholstered sofa, an HD TV stand and a coffee table that connects to the galley, where you will find a two-zone hob, an oven, fridge-freezer units and more. Located amidship is a twin bedroom with a Jack-and-Jill bathroom and a bunk berth, while towards the bow there is a master double stateroom with a queen-sized island bed, elongated port-hole windows, walnut-lined closets and a bathroom with black granite surfaces and a waterfall shower cubicle.
The Sunseeker Predator 54 can reach top speeds of up to 33 knots thanks to a pair of Volvo Penta IPS 900 1400MHP pod-drive engines, though some models can be fitted with shaft-drives for a more traditional approach to piloting. A fuel tank holding 565 US gallons of diesel, meanwhile, will ensure that you have plenty in reserve while cruising at lower speeds.
