The Sunseeker Predator 50 is a 54-foot performance cruiser yacht that was launched by UK-based yacht firm Sunseeker in 2018. As sleek and sporty as it gets, the Predator 50 is the ideal yacht for weekend cruising in the sun, benefiting from plenty of outdoor relaxation space including an aft beach club and a cockpit that can be fully opened up to the elements. An immediate hit with the critics, the Sunseeker Predator 50 bagged the prize for “Best Sportscruiser over 45ft” at the 2019 Motor Boat Awards, as well as winning the title for “Best Sports Cruiser up to 55ft” at the 2019 Asia Boating Awards. Buyers, too, have given this yacht their seal of approval, with over 30 models sold within a year of the Predator 50 being released.
Out on the foredeck there is a U-shaped seating area built into the yacht’s superstructure that features three plush sunpads, while on the teak-lined aft-deck there is room for two sofas, an extending breakfast table and a stern-facing daybed. There are side steps down to a full-beam hydraulic swimming platform, and also access to the spacious tender garage where you can store your choice of water toy. This space can also be turned into an enjoyable beach club area with a fold-down bench, an outdoor BBQ and an overhead shower. Sunseeker Yachts does an excellent job creating ideal outdoor entertainment areas on every model.
There is an almost seamless connection between inside and outside on this vessel, thanks to glazed doors and windows that can fully retract into the sole, cresting-wave side windows and a transparent retractable sunroof above the helm. To port in the timber-lined salon there is a U-shaped sofa hugging a cocktail table, while to port there is a curved cabinet console with an integral wet-bar from where you can mix your gin martinis. At the front of the cockpit sits a cocoon-style forward lounge across from a pair of leather-clad helm seats facing a dashboard with Simrad monitors, a Penta joystick, Volvo engine feedback, thruster controls and electric power-steering.
Below-deck is surprisingly spacious for a yacht of this class, and the lower lobby remains light filled thanks to knife-insert hull windows and a staircase atrium that links this space to the sunroof above. The galley features pale granite work surfaces and all the Miele appliances required to keep you well-fed on weekend voyages, while an L-shaped dining sofa with a matching teak table provides a great place to enjoy breakfasts or light lunches. An en-suite scissor twin stateroom to the bow is complemented by the full-beam, en-suite owner’s stateroom where you will find a queen-sized bed, bedside cabinets, a pair of armchairs, a timber-lined closet, a work desk and a spacious bathroom.
You can expect top speeds of up to 32 knots while piloting the Sunseeker Predator 50 at half-load, with cruising speeds of around 20 knots. A pair of 600MHP Volvo Penta D8 engines provide supreme acceleration from a standing position, while an original Predator hull provides plenty of balance and efficiency on the turn.
