The Sunseeker Renegade 60 is a 60-foot express cruiser that was produced by British yacht-building firm Sunseeker between the years of 1991 and 1995. A revolutionary model, the Renegade 60 was the first Sunseeker to utilize a powerful Italian water-jet propulsion system for unrivalled top speeds and superb handling, though for many it was this yacht’s sleek and aggressive profile that really caught the eye. Lovers of that vintage 90s style will delight in this yacht’s contoured lines and modern interiors, while those who like to take it easy and relax when out on the water will enjoy the Renegade 60’s wealth of plush living spaces. No matter what Sunseeker Yacht model you are looking for, the team at SI Yachts can help you find the right boat on the brokerage market.
At the stern you will find a set of full-beam steps leading down to an optional swimming platform with a hydraulic swimming ladder, where you can also store a water tender. Even if you choose to forego this element then you may be surprised to discover an on-deck tender locker, cleverly hidden beneath a rear-facing leather sunpad with room for up to three sunbathers. Heading further into the open cockpit, which can have a Bimini top fitted to this yacht’s towering radar arch, you will find a U-shaped starboard sofa surrounding a Hi-Lo cocktail table. Across from this sits an elegant, and by modern standards fairly capacious, wet-bar console with refrigeration, a drinks cabinet, a U-Line icemaker, a sink and an electric grill. At the front of the cockpit and protected from spray thanks to a tinted, wrap-around Venturi windshield, you will find a thoroughly modern helm station fitted with everything needed for high-speed cruising. The helm boasts Side Power or Vetus thruster controls, K-Plane trim tab controls, a hydraulic Latham steering system, Morse throttles, Garmin and Raymarine electronics, Shipmate VHF radio and Cetrek 757 autopilot, not to mention a comfortable two-seater helm seat.
There is room for up to 6 overnight guests across an artfully arranged lower-deck, with a twin bunk cabin, a double bedroom and a day-head with a shower taking up the amidship portion on this level. Towards the bow, meanwhile, there is an en-suite master stateroom with a queen-sized bed, hanging closets, porthole windows and skylights. Also located on this level is a palatial lower salon that boasts walnut-fascia lined cabinets, Ultrasuede or leather furnishings, recessed lighting, refined carpeting and bronze-effect accents for an atmosphere that is at once opulent yet restrained. There is a large U-shaped dining sofa surrounding a breakfast table to starboard, with an open galley to port with a four-zone hob, a convection oven, a large sink, a fridge-freezer and masses of storage space.
Top speeds in excess of 46 knots really set the Sunseeker Renegade 60 apart from the pack, and even 30 years after the yacht’s initial launch there will not be many boats of this class that can keep up with it. This, of course, is the work of the aforementioned IRC 43DLX Riva Calzoni waterjets, that are paired with twin 1100MHP 12-cylinder MAN LZE diesel engines for superb acceleration, while a Don Shead-designed deep-V hull also pulls its weight keeping this vessel well-balanced and agile, even at high speeds.
