The Sunseeker Manhattan 55 is a 56-foot luxury motor yacht with a flybridge that was launched by UK yacht-building firm Sunseeker in early 2021. This mid-sized yacht builds on the success of the best-selling Manhattan 52 by providing a reconfigured internal lay-out, masses of outdoor space and more powerful engines fitted to the same superb hull and a profile that matches the 52’s striking and aggressive style.
The Manhattan 55’s teak-lined flybridge can be fixed with a fiberglass hard-top with a retractable sunroof or can come as an entirely open bridge with a Bimini. At the front of the bridge and protected from spray by a wrap-around tinted Venturi windscreen there is a forward sunpad connecting to a U-shaped sofa surrounding a coffee table. Next to this there is a wet-bar console with an icemaker and an electric grill, while at the rear of the bridge there is a U-shaped dining sofa hugging an extending, teak-topped breakfast table. Also to be found up here is the upper helm station, equipped with a pair of helm seats in either durable leather or water-proofed upholstery, a pair of Simrad touch-screen display panels, thruster controls, power-steering, an optional joystick and more.
On the main deck there is a forward sunlounge out on the foredeck where a modular seating space with a pair of sunpads and a loveseat with a backrest surrounds a cocktail table. Walking down backlit side decks leads to the aft cockpit, where a transom sofa is paired with an extending table to provide for a superb, sheltered space to enjoy pre-meal aperitifs. Side steps then lead down to a hydraulic swimming platform and the Manhattan 55’s beach-club setting. The beach club includes a drop-down bench, a shower, storage space for a pair of seabobs, swimming equipment, oxygen tanks and all the goodies needed to enjoy marine-themed adventures. Rear glazing and doors that completely disappear into the sole at the touch of a button connect the aft deck to the internal cockpit to create space for a cocktail bar with a pair of stools that face the rear galley. The galley boasts Corian and timber surfaces, a four-zone Miele hob, a Miele convection oven, a wine cooler and under-counter fridge-freezer units. Further forward there is a U-shaped sofa with a table, hand-stitched Ottomans, plenty of cabinetry and stylish design touches such as stainless-steel accents, wengewood panels and plenty of side glazing. At the front of the main deck there is another helm station stocked with everything required to chart your novel course across the seas.
There is room on the lower deck for up to six overnight guests across a side twin berth, an en-suite VIP double stateroom to the bow and a full-beam owner’s stateroom with arrowhead hull windows, a loveseat, pale oak shelving, bedside cabinets, a king-sized island bed and a marble-clad bathroom large enough to require its own widescreen windows.
Though the Sunseeker Manhattan 55 has the dimensions and opulence of a Greenwich Village condo, it moves like a much smaller vessel. A pair of Volvo Penta D13 800MHP shaft-drives, or Volvo Penta IPS1050 pod-drives, offer top speeds of up to 32 knots, with a cruising range of 230 nautical miles at the still-swift pace of 21 knots.
