The Fairline Phantom 50 is a large-and-in-charge 50-foot long-range flybridge cruiser first introduced by the British yacht brand Fairline Yachts in 2001 at the Southampton Boat Show. This yacht was once the flagship of Fairline’s fleet, and it’s not hard to see why: designed by industry icon Bernard Olesinski, the Phantom 50 is eminently seaworthy, with two helm areas, roomy social spaces throughout, and serene interiors. Still popular on the used and charter markets, this boat is an ideal choice for those who want to go the distance with friends and family.
Sheltered from the elements by the flybridge overhang, the aft cockpit features a convivial seating area and hi-lo table at the transom, but this space contains hidden depths: an enormous central lazarette and in-floor access to the engine room for daily checks. Lift up the seating cushion and you’ll find a snug optional crew cabin with a single bunk and an in-cabin bathroom. A sturdy transom gate provides access to the generous teak-inlaid swim platform with a hot/cold shower, wet locker, bathing platform, and an electrohydraulic passarelle that can double as a diving board. Wide side decks with handrails lead safely to an expansive sunpad on the foredeck.
Stunning tinted sliding glass doors lead to the well-appointed salon. To port, you’ll find a stunning, glossy wood galley that doubles as a stylish indoor wet bar with two sinks, a built-in combination microwave/oven, three-burner electric cooktop, fridge-freezer, and plenty of storage throughout. The chef or bartender of the day can stand here and chat to guests as they sit at the plush C-shaped sofa the wraps around a generous dining table that accommodates about six people. To starboard, a rich wood sideboard snakes all the way from aft to stern. A hidden hatch here lifts up to reveal an enormous storage area with a closet and cabinets.
Up on the flybridge, which is accessed via sturdy teak stairs on the cockpit, the flybridge is sure to be the social heart of the boat, with a curvy C-shaped seating area for up to six people that transforms into a sunpad when desired. A wet bar with sink, fridge, and griddle is nearby to ensure your guests never go hungry – or thirsty.
Below deck, you’ll find a gorgeous forward owner’s suite with an island berth and a private head with a shower screen. Two amidships guest cabins are sure to impress, with the option of a double or two twin berths in the starboard cabin, which enjoys private access to the day head, and a portside cabin with two twin beds, perfect for kids or unexpected guests.
Fairline offered this model with a range of engine options, including a pair of zippy 675hp Volvo diesels with top speeds of over 32 knots and a cruising speed of 29 knots.
