The Fairline Targa 44 GT is a 44-foot express cruiser yacht that was produced by the iconic British yacht-building firm Fairline between the years of 2007 and 2010. Featuring an entirely original deep-V hull crafted by Bernard Olesinski to accommodate a hi-tech pod-drive propulsion system, super-sleek and sporty looks and a rounded hard-top with a sunroof this is a yacht that seems tailor-made for high-speed coastal cruising. A wealth of chic lounge spaces both inside and out also make this a great option for family vacations, entertaining with friends or simply disappearing beyond the horizon for a week or two.
High, stainless-steel guardrails surrounding the foredeck can only mean one thing: that this is a space designed to be used by guests and not a mere after-thought. Look a little closer and you will see optional teak decking up by the bow from where kids can launch themselves into the sea, as well as a wide, double-sunpad in weatherproofed upholstery with cup-holders and grab-rails. The stern end of this boat is just as impressive, boasting a full-beam swimming platform that can host a jet-tender as well as a transom sunpad that directly connects to a sofa in the aft deck. Back here you will also discover an L-shaped dining sofa hugging a breakfast table and a teak-topped wet-bar station with a fridge, a sink, an ice-chipper and an outdoor grill.
A compact main deck features an artfully arranged L-shaped forward sofa with a set of cup-holders and a starboard side helm seat facing a modern dashboard with Raymarine electronics. Penta IPS joystick handling comes as standard and is joined by throttles, trim tab switches, VHF radio, a high-speed magnetic compass and a leather-clad steering wheel, while a sloped windscreen, cresting wave side windows and an above-helm sunroof ensure an intimate connection to sun and sea.
Make your way to the lower deck via a glazed companionway door and you will be greeted by a sedate lounge space lined in lacquered American cherry or satin-finished white oak with eucalyptus accents. A plush U-shaped leather sofa surrounds a dining table and sits across from an open galley with a ceramic hob, a combination oven, granite-effect countertops, a sink with a mixer-tap and a capacious fridge-freezer. There is also space on this level for two en-suite cabins, with a twin room amidship featuring opening portholes, bedside cabinets, a wardrobe and a locker. The owner’s stateroom sits to the bow and boasts a queen-sized bed, a skylight, Venetian blinds, hidden storage, a full-height locker and a bathroom with a circular shower stall and a ceramic sink.
Twin Volvo Penta IPS-500 D6 diesel pod-drive engines prompt top speeds of around 34 knots with cruising speeds of 27 knots. An optional upgrade to a pair of IPS-600 engines with 435mhp each will produce even higher top speeds, while a fuel tank holding 265 gallons of diesel will keep you out on the water for the long haul. A real joy in the water, this yacht combines superb responsiveness and agility thanks to the Penta engines and plenty of balance while planing.
