The Fairline Phantom 40 is an exquisite 41.2-foot luxury flybridge cruiser built by British icons Fairline Yachts between 2002 and 2009. Designed by industry legend Bernard Olesinski, this variable deep V-hull was built to lure sport yacht enthusiasts to the flybridge cruiser market. Many have been unable to resist this siren’s call, and the Fairline Phanton 40 remains a popular choice on the used and charter markets to this day.
Seaworthy even in choppy waters and at higher speeds, the Phantom 40 is a remarkably responsive and maneuverable boat perfect for families and groups of friends. Comfortably accommodating up to four people with heaps of social spots inside and out, this versatile boat is perfect for lazy weekends and longer expeditions.
The generous swim platform is the perfect perch for snorkelers and scuba divers, with a concealed folding swim ladder to make reboarding easy and safe. Once you’re back aboard, the portside transom door leads to a spectacular aft cockpit sheltered from the sun by the flybridge overhang. A long sofa near the transom is perfect for sitting out and enjoying the sea breeze as you marvel at the elegant simplicity of the teak decking. Small steps lead to the foredeck, where a large sunpad awaits the sun worshippers and lounge lizards onboard.
The cheerful salon is suffused with natural light, thanks to large side windows and a stunning windshield. Though the interior of this yacht protects you from the elements, this convivial spot never feels cramped or dark, and on bright days feels connected to the aft cockpit. To port, users will enjoy an entertainment center, which is of a piece with the gorgeous cherry wood cabinetry throughout. A long starboard settee snakes around a teak hi-lo table, perfect for dinner parties – with the salon doors open, this space has an al fresco feel about it. A portside loveseat next to the entertainment center provides additional seating.
Forward and to port, you’ll find a lovely galley behind a waist-length partition that allows the cook to concentrate on the task at hand without feeling left out of the conversation. This area features a microwave oven, refrigerator, sink and two-burner cooktop with ample storage throughout. To starboard, you’ll find a comfortable and well-equipped helm with excellent sightlines, an adjustable steering wheel, throttles placed on the side panel and an array of top-shelf navigation electrics.
The owner’s suite is located forward at the bow, with a central double bed and steps on either side for easy access. This suite benefits from a simple but comfortable en suite bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower. The guest cabin is small but perfectly formed, situated to starboard of the galley with twin beds that extend under the helm. This space enjoys private access to the day head, a thoughtful touch that gives your guests that VIP experience.
The flybridge is sure to be the social hub of this yacht and, perhaps, the captain’s helm of choice. The aft deck features a curvy sofa around a large dining table, perfect for outdoor meals and cocktails. The portside helm has two comfortable seats and is equipped much the same as the lower helm. To starboard, you’ll find companion seating with a manually adjustable backrest, ideal for guests to lounge as they interact with the captain.
Fairline offered a range of power options over the course of this yacht’s 7-year tenure, from twin Caterpillars to Volvo Penta diesel engines. Those who opted for two 318hp Volvo Pentas enjoy top speeds of nearly 30 knots and a cruising speed between 15 and 21 knots.
