The Fairline Targa 62 GT is a 63-foot luxury sportscruiser yacht that was first launched by iconic British yacht firm Fairline Yachts in 2013. Though one of the largest yachts in the Targa range this is a boat that hides its heft well, featuring a curved hard-top with cresting wave side windows and a sprawling lounge area to transom with beach-club characteristics. A sporty Bernard Olesinski deep-V hull with a fine entry is made for high-octane performance in coastal waters, while interiors boast the sort of space and refined luxury you would expect from a super-yacht.
Two stylish sunpads in tan leather bookend this yacht, with a double iteration out on a sunny foredeck and a raised sunbed for three situated by the transom and sitting atop a spacious tender garage. The huge bathing platform to stern impresses with hydraulic function and full-beam dimensions, and provides the sort of space to relax for hours on end before and after swimming trips. Take a few steps up towards the aft-cockpit and you will encounter a partially sheltered, teak-lined space with a U-shaped leather sofa with backrests and a dining table along with a portside wet-bar station with a fridge, a griddle and an icemaker. The main-deck salon is accessed via a set of sliding glass doors to provide a stylish lounge area to be used across all four seasons of the year, though cresting wave side windows and a retractable sunroof keep this space light and airy during spring and summer. Lacquered walnut surrounds and satin-finished veneers play off against a cream-toned leather U-shaped sofa with a hi-Lo coffee table that can be extended for dinner service, a loveseat and cabinetry options, while towards the front of the salon there is an open port side galley on a sunken mezzanine level. Stone or granite countertops, a steel sink, a four-zone hob, a convection oven and a fridge-freezer tower will delight your inner-chef, with accessibility to both upper and lower decks a real plus. The starboard helm station features two reclining leather piloting seats, a couple of Garmin multi-function display screens, hydraulic steering, trim tab switches and bow thruster controls along with plenty of analogue instrumentation and a VHF radio.
The Targa 62 GT’s ample dimensions really become evident on the lower deck, where three cabins host sleeping space for up to six overnight guests. To aft there is a double room and an en-suite twin cabin, both with triple hull mullions and full-height closets, while occupying the front portion of the hull there is a full-beam owner’s stateroom. This capacious bedroom features a king-sized bed with bedside cabinets, plush carpeting, two lockers, a leather sofa and a work-desk, while an en-suite bathroom nestled up by the bow impresses with a waterfall shower unit and masses of timber-lined space with granite accents.
A 34-knot top speed is delivered by twin 900mhp Volvo Penta D13-900 diesel engines, with cruising speeds of 18 knots providing a horizon-busting range of 345 nautical miles. An optional upgrade comes in the form of two MAN V8 1200mhp shaft-drives for top speeds that edge past the 38-knot mark, likely to be popular with adrenaline junkies or simply those who want to use this yacht’s agile GRP hull with an 18-degree transom deadrise to island hop in record time.
