Most of the boating facilities around here are actually located in neighboring Deale, an historic port town with a fishing heritage based around catching blueback herring and harvesting oysters, both of which are abundant in the surrounding waters. The natural harbor in Deale, now protected by dual breakwaters, provides a peaceful place to drop anchor and moor overnight, while keeping America’s finest sailing destination just seconds away. From this location on the mid-Bay you can sail all the way down to Cape Henry and into the Atlantic, head north to the languid upper reaches of Chesapeake, fish for striped bass without straying far from the shore, or commute up to Annapolis in your motor-boat to avoid the road traffic. Alternatively, just cruise into the blue expanses of Chesapeake Bay to unwind, hearing nothing but the hum of your motor to stern and the call of the seagulls overhead.
