Viking Yachts Market Update: June 2022

There are more than 70 new Viking Yachts sold each year between $1 million and over $12 million, along with more than 350 pre-owned Vikings sold on the brokerage market.

As with many builders right now in the marine industry, available new inventory boats are sold out and securing a new build slot means waiting in line with a 2023 delivery date or more. SI Yachts continually stocks new Vikings and does have available vessels on order, including a new 58 Convertible that will arrive in June of 2023. Viking's center-console line, Valhalla Boatworks, has also been extremely successful with over 100 units sold yearly.

There were 54% more pre-owned Viking Yachts sold in 2021 than so far in 2022.
More than 85% of the Vikings sold so far this year were in the United States.
On average, used Viking Yachts have taken just over 200 days to sell on the brokerage market.
Of the sold data reported, sellers sold their boats for nearly 90% of the asking price.
More than 30 pre-owned Vikings were added to the market in the last 30 days.
Of the available pre-owned Vikings, 15% had a price reduction in the last 30 days.

Our featured Viking listing for the summer of 2022 is "Ocean Jewel", a 2022 Viking 54 Sport Coupe that is located at our Staten Island office. Late-model, well-equipped sportfishing boats do not last long in this market and we don't anticipate Ocean Jewel being any different considering the wait times for a new boat. VIKING NEWS FROM SI YACHTS

We always get excited when our customers bring their new boats up north for the summertime. This year, SI Yachts has several news boats making their way to local waters that you may see out cruising or fishing. In Montauk, we’ll be welcoming the Viking 52 called “Lucky 11”, as the owner awaits their new 68 Enclosed Bridge, along with new Valhalla 33 t/t “Kara Mia”. The Hampton Bay area will be seeing three new Vikings including a 72 “Lucky For Us II”, 54 Convertible “Two Doc’s”, and a 48 Sport Coupe “I’m Shore”. The Viking 44 Open “Reelaxin” will also be cruising around Norwalk. Other new deliveries include hull #2 of the Valhalla V-55 to a customer who currently owns a V-41, as well as a new V-46 with a tower arriving soon.

The annual Montauk Canyon Challenge (known as the MCC) has been growing every year! The most popular fishing tournament in the Northeast will be happening from July 8th through the 16th. This is a unique tournament that allows anglers to fish either 1 overnight trip or 2 day trips within a 9 day weather window. New for this year is a separate, outboard-only center-console Calcutta! This tournament is sponsored by both SI Yachts and Viking.

NEWS FROM NEW GRETNA

What's the latest new from the Viking shipyard? The team has been hard at work on the new 90 Convertible, which will make its debut at the Miami Boat Show in 2023. Recently, the team used a large crane and two forklifts to pull the mold structure from the foam plug. The mold structure weighs an astonishing 55,000 pounds! The hull mold was then transitioned over to the fiberglass department so that work could begin on creating the deckhouse section.

In a recent post from the factory, the gelcoat process was explained. "One of the first milestones was the application of the gelcoat, which was executed by our five-man team in our Viglass (Viking’s fiberglass) Department last week. The gelcoat is the outer surface of the fiberglass hull consisting of a special pigmented resin that provides a smooth, shiny and durable surface. It also provides the color to the hull while protecting it from water intrusion and ultraviolet light. Viking offers no fewer than 16 different gelcoat colors, everything from the new Nardo Grey to the classic Stars & Stripes Blue." The first 90C will be a Kingston Grey color. The new Valhalla V-55 is also currently under production and is still on track to make its debut at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. No photography has been released yet on the flagship center-console, but we expect an update soon. SI Yachts has a V-55 on order with the factory that can still be reserved and there is still time to select color, options, and more.
