After weeks of teasing a secret new model, the big announcement finally came from Viking President Pat Healey in the form of a video message posted on social media. Viking Yachts has re-designed the second generation 64 Convertible that will make its debut at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. As one of the builder's most popular models, the 64C is the evolution of the all of Viking's latest designs, construction techniques, and top-end equipment. Listen to Pat's announcement below:
"Viking has been dominant in the 60-to-70 foot sportfishing boat range for many, many years," said Rich Lucas, Viking Brand Manager for SI Yachts. "They have made big investments to their factory in the form of new equipment and technology in the last decade and are now able to build yachts at higher quality, performance, and production levels than anyone else.
"What this does (the 64C) it brings us back again, like with the 54 Convertible, right in the middle of what we do better than anybody else in the industry. And that is build boats from 50 to 70 feet, "said Pat Healey. "We've built somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 different models over the last 12 or 14 years. And that has made us the king of this industry."
The Viking 64 Convertible will feature a 180-square foot cockpit, all of the fishing features anglers expect in a luxury sportfish, a 4-stateroom layout, and plenty of power options ranging from the base MAN 1,550MHP engine package, to the MTU 12V 2000 M96X 2,022 MHP option. The first 64C to be built will feature the MTU 2,022MHP option.
