As if Viking's dominance in the 50-foot sportfish category couldn't be more set in stone, the legendary shipyard has released several new 54 models after the successful launch of the 54 Convertible. It was only a few months ago that the stunning 54C won the 'Best In Show' award at the 2020 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Viking Yachts enthusiasts now have multiple options in this length range including the new 54 Sport Tower, 54 Open, and 54 Sport Coupe.
"As soon as the announcement came out about the new 54 Convertible, we immediately started getting inquiries about pricing and availability," said Frank Bongiorno, founder of SI Yachts and longtime Viking owner. "SI Yachts has sold the very first two 54 Sport Coupes which are being delivered this summer. With these new model variations of the 54, our customers have a nice selection that fits their personal fishing style and application. It is really beneficial to Viking dealers that the factory has the technology to create several different topside configurations that all fit perfectly with the same Viking 54 hull which is proven to increase performance."
Viking has invested millions of dollars in the most technologically-advanced equipment seen at any yacht factory in North America and beyond. The $1 million 5-axis CNC router gives Viking the ability to create very specific, customized molds for each model. The result is an efficient construction method that gives Viking unique layouts for multiple variations of models, all on the same hull.
While all of the 54 models are similar to the 54C, the three new yachts released today all differ in lower deck accommodations and layouts. For more information on options, pricing, and availability, please contact us at 1-516-623-6060 or by email at Sales@SIYachts.com.
Viking 54 Sport Tower (54ST)
The new Viking 54 Sport Tower is striking in its exterior lines with an aggressive bow entry and raked stem. The large cockpit, tuna tower, and deckhouse are eye-catching with the familiar Viking style. The design of the 54ST features a 3-sided fiberglass deckhouse that allows everyone on board to enjoy the open connection with the cockpit, while also the comfort of having a surrounded enclosure. An optional solid aft bulkhead can also be added during the time of construction.
The cockpit on all of the Viking 54 models is 154-square feet of space with optimal fishing features. There is a low freeboard for leaning over the gunwale, a transom door for pulling in big fish, and faux teak toe rails molded into the cockpit. There is an in-transom live-well as well as multiple rod holders, in-deck fish box, in-deck storage, and a dedicated space for a Seakeeper Stabilization System. Owners have a choice between selecting a Seakeeper 9, 16, or 18.
Also located on the cockpit is Viking's signature mezzanine seating which brings your guests right into the action. The twin seats on the mezzanine also open up to reveal cooler storage or an optional freezer space. On the 54ST, the mezzanine seating flows right into the semi-open deckhouse and command deck.
Moving forward from the cockpit and up a few steps is the interior of the deckhouse. Fully-enclosed on three sides, it offers air-conditioning and heat for a comfortable environment. A U-shaped sofa has big, comfortable cushions to rest your body while also offering a dining option via the walnut table. Also nearby are tackle storage, additional storage compartments, and an exterior refrigerator box.
Forward from the command deck is the main centerline helm station that features a comfortable Release Marine captain's chair as well as companion seating both port and starboard. The helm and captain's chair is on a raised platform that, combined with the excellent windshield of the deckhouse, provides tremendous visibility. There are three 22" multi-functional displays in the dash along with flush-mounted Bocatech switches that have LED on/off lights. The engine displays, autopilot, and other controls are all neatly housed in the hardtop underside and easy to reach. You'll never feel in more control of your vessel than you will at the helm of a Viking 54.
Viking Yachts 54 Open (54O)
The new Viking 54 Open provides the same performance and fish-ability as the 54C and 54 ST, in an open express style design. The tuna tower can also be omitted from your order to create a sleek express-style cruising yacht, without losing its fishing features. The cockpit, command deck, hull, and helm station are all identical to the 54ST.
Viking Yachts 54 Sport Coupe (54SC)
The new Viking 54 Sport Coupe provides the benefit of an indoor, fully-enclosed command deck. The 54SC has Viking's style and pedigree in a sleek express cruiser format with all of the fishing amenities as the other 54 models. Perfect for anglers and cruisers in the Northeast, the Sports Coupe provides the comfort of air-conditioning or heat in the deckhouse.
Accommodations On The Viking 54ST, 54O, and 54SC
The design of the Viking 54 provides for an over 17-foot beam which is valuable to the space below deck. Owners will have a choice between either a two-stateroom or three-stateroom layout.
The two stateroom layout (seen below) allows for a L-shaped couch in the salon seating area, as well as a table. There is a galley adjacent to the seating area that is well-equipped with refrigerator, freezer, an engineered stone countertop, storage space, and more. The galley and salon are also highlighted by walnut cabinetry and Amtico flooring.
The owner's suite is placed midship and features a queen-sized berth. There is ample storage space, a television, and an en suite bathroom in the master cabin.
The three-stateroom layout (seen below) changes the salon seating area from the L-shaped couch to bench seating, but still with a small table. The two additional guest cabins share a head in this configuration and feature upper and lower berths.
Engines and Mechanical Equipment On The Viking 54
Upon raising a lift-up step from the mezzanine, the entrance to the engine room opens up. The standard power includes MAN V12 1400mhp, but owners have a choice of upgrading to the 1550mhp engines. It's expected that all three new 54 models will cruise comfortably in the mid 30-knot range and have a top end speed of over 40 knots. The captain will appreciate the convenience of single lever controls and the handling is exceptional thanks to the Optimus Electronic Power Steering. Viking also equipped each model with an Onan 21.5kW E-QD (electronic quiet diesel) generator to keep all of your guests comfortable with the same amenities as you have at home.
