It wouldn't be a Miami Boat Show without some fireworks from Viking Yachts. On the opening day of the show during the morning dealer meeting, Viking President and CEO Pat Healey announced the production of four new 50-foot models, one of which will make its debut at the 2025 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. The new models include all-new:
- 50 Convertible
- 50 Open
- 50 Sport Coupe or 50 Sport Tower
- 50 Billfish
"Viking is very good at keeping secrets," said Rich Lucas, Viking Brand Manager for SI Yachts. "We did not expect something this exciting to be announced. The first-generation 50 Convertible launched back in 1991 and was a very popular model for Viking with 142 boats built. The second generation 50C launched in 2008 and sold 42 units. We can't wait to see what the 3rd generation will bring! With the MAN V8 2,400MHP power option, we expect a 35-knot cruise with a top end speed very close to 40 knots."
“No one else in the industry can match our quality and versatility,” says Viking President and CEO Pat Healey. “We have the best team of designers, engineers and boatbuilders in the industry. This series of the 50 is going to be an incredible achievement, and one we know our owners will be very pleased with.”

However you're spending your day on the water, the cockpit on the 50C has everything you need, including:

Accommodations on board are what you would expect from Viking; spacious, comfortable, fine wood, top-end appliances, and lots of storage. The horizontal grain walnut, that bathes the interior of the 50C, can be ordered in either high-gloss or a satin finish. Other features of the interior accommodations include a 43-inch HD TV positioned on the forward bulkhead, a slide-out drawer that has space for storing up to 7 fishing rods, and lots of natural light from the wide windows. The galley is functional, but offers enough storage to keep a hungry crew fed and happy. It features a nice galley countertop, refrigerator and freezer under the counter with pull-out drawers, Miele 4-burner cooktop, microwave, and lots of cabinet space.
There are two interior layout options you can choose:
Option 1: Features a main cabin portside, twin, cross-over bunks (double lower bunk) in the bow cabin, and a third cabin with over/under bunks.
Option 2: Features the same layout as option 1, but with a queen-sized berth in the bow VIP cabin.
While the price of the new Viking 50 Convertible has not yet been released, we will be sure to provide updates on its cost as it becomes available. The new 50C will replace the very successful 48 Convertible which first made its debut in 1985, but has gone through several iterations over the years.
The new 50 Convertible might be the ideal sportfishing yacht for the owner/operator that wants the freedom to run their boat without a captain, as well as being easily managed for cruising while not fishing.
Here are additional features on the 50 Convertible released by Viking:
- Walk-around center-console on the flybridge with drop-down electronic box integrated into hardtop
- Comfortable seating around the flybridge along with storage and refrigerated drink box
- Icemaker located at the end of the peninsula-style countertop in the galley
- Equipped with a standard 21.5 kW generator

- ElectroSea Clearline Sea Strainer (Option)
