After weeks of anticipation, Viking has finally announced their latest model under the Valhalla center-console line - the V-46. Making its debut in January at the annual Viking VIP event, the V-46 becomes the largest of the Valhalla Boatworks models and arguably the most exciting. The announcement was made virtually through a live Facebook video by Viking President Pat Healey.

After overwhelming success of over 150 units sold or on order, it was only logical for Viking to take the next step by going bigger. "It's the trend right now in the luxury center-console market," said Jay Hendrix, Vice President of SI Yachts. "The Valhalla V-46 gives us that intermediary step between the V-41 and the smaller-range sportfish that we offer through Viking Yachts. Some owners are getting closer to retiring from boating and want to move down, but stay with the Viking quality product. Some owners of larger sportfish want the matching center-console. Whatever your plans, we now have a full range from 33-feet to 93-feet of Viking-built product. No other manufacturer in the world can pull off a wide range of models like Viking at this level of execution."
Like the other Valhalla models, the V-46 utilizes the patented Michael Peters Yacht Design double-stepped hull which reduces drag, increases speed, increases agility, and drastically reduces the planing time. Viking has worked very closely with MPYD on every Valhalla model and the results have shown!
Owners will have the change to select their preferred engine manufacturer - Yamaha or Mercury - in a quad outboard configuration. Engine model choices include either the Mercury V8 450Rs, Mercury Verado 400s, or Yamaha V8 425s for a max of 1,800 horsepower possible. Viking installed the fly-by-wire electric power steering for unbelievable handling, as well as the option to add joystick controls and GPS station-keeping systems.
Let's make one thing clear - the Valhalla V-46 is a pure, thoroughbred fishing machine. From the hull construction to the Gemlux outriggers, the V-46 is an angler's dream for nearshore and offshore fishing. Check out these standard and optional fishing features:
- Nearly 700 gallon fuel capacity for extended range and time fishing
- TWO 50 gallon live-wells in the transom
- FIVE insulated fish boxes that are insulated and equipped for overboard drainage
- SIX standard Gemlux rod holders with the option to add more.
Here's where it gets really cool. The hardtop package comes with several notable features including Lumitec Mirage spreader lights, overhead lights, a molded-in radar pod, a six-rod rocket launcher, and an integrated overhead electronics pod. In addition to those, you can add the following:
- Gemlux outrigger bases and 22" Gemlux outriggers
- Miya Epoch US-6 electric teaser reels (mounted inside the hardtop)
- Lumitec Razor light bars
- Custom paint job so have the underside of the hardtop match the hull color
- Install a live-well in the deck in lieu of the Seakeeper
As with all Viking sportfish, comfort is a major factor on every model from the V-33 all the way up to the 92 Convertible. With the popularity of gyro stabilization, Viking designers worked in a dedicated area for a Seakeeper SK6 that has a mounting structure molded into the vessel’s resin-infused structural stringer grid for easy install and service.
Additionally, the seating arrangement makes it comfortable for everyone on board who is along for the trip. Whether you choose the Costa Marine bench seating for at the helm, or you opt to go with the optional Release Marine or Llebroc three chairs, you will have excellent visibility and total comfort. There is a second row of seating where owners again have the choice between the bench or four arm chairs that are all elevated 3 inches and have footrests.
Forward of the console on the V-46 is a three person lounge with cupholders and a footrest for the ultimate cruising seat. Two additional seats on the bow have teak backrests and offer more seating for when multiple guests are joining your trip. The popular aft mezzanine seating is also standard on the V-46.
Many of the higher-end, 40'+ center-consoles on the market are now implementing larger and more spacious living areas on board. As construction techniques and materials continue to improve, boats are getting lighter and stronger. This has allowed engineers to provided added living space without compromising the performance or integrity of the hull. The Valhalla V-46 is no exception as it boasts a generously-sized living area accessed through a portside opening and a set of teak stairs.
Viking knows some of its owners are quite tall (See Michael Jordan) so they provided for 6-feet and 7-inches of headroom inside. Viking calls this a "free-flowing open layout" as it has multiple spaces for overnight accommodations. The dinette has u-shaped seating that converts to a queen-sized berth when not in use as a dining table. Adjacent to the dinette is a private head with a molded-in vanity, toilet, and shower. Additionally, there is a galley complete with Corian countertop, SS sink, a two-burner stove, microwave oven, refrigerator/freezer, and lots of storage for supplies.
