With the success of the Princess Y75 Motor Yacht and the new Princess X95 world premiere on the horizon, the need to design an updated intermidiary model in the 80-foot range was a must. The Princess Y85 Motor Yacht will make its debut this week at the Dusseldorf Boat Show, Europe's biggest boating event. The new Princess model will make its U.S. debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show this March.
The Princess Y85 is sleek and futuristic at first glance, yet undeniably a Princess model with the traditional slope of the flybridge and the over-sized windows that line the salon and cabins below. Princess is unique from many builders in their construction methods with over 80% of each vessel, the Y85 included, being assembled right at the factory in Plymouth. This allows for an extraordinary quality control process that keeps each yacht consistent with the owner's expectations. There's a reason the words "Crafted In Plymouth, England" are seen on everything to do with Princess Yachts.
The social zones on the Princess Y85 are irresistably elegant and comfortable. Whether entertaining or relaxing, the Y85 offers opportunities in virutally every part of the boat. The bow lounge is very well-planned and not just an after-thought where a row of seats and a cup holder were set down. The bow area on the Y85 features a u-shaped couch large enough for 4-6 people, a center foot stool/table, and a very large sunpad and seating area across from the couch. LED lights line the gunnels for a romantic ambiance at night.
Whether you are sunbathing, enjoying the music from the Naim audio system, or taking in the breathtaking views, the flybridge on the Princess Y85 sets the standard for motor yachts. Driving from the upper helm is exhilarating yet comfortable as the entire helm will raise or lower electrically along with twin adjustable helm seats. There is a u-shaped seating area with a folding teak table for dining that is parallel from the wet bar, barbecue grill, and drawer refrigerator that makes serving cocktails and hors d'eauvres from the bridge simple. Aft there is space for a crane and tender if desired or extra room for chairs and sunbathing.
The interior of the Princess Y85 is an oasis of contemporary style and natural light. The wide windows line the sides of the salon offering exquisite views that are complimented by the lightly colored appointments and furniture. The salon includes your typical sofas, loveseats, hidden televisions, and dining table, but the space left over is anything but ordinary. The main deck is a single-level living space with a flexible galley arrangementand a very comfortable inside helm station.
Overnight trips on board the Y85 are a treat for the owner and guests staying in one of four beautiful cabins that each have their own private bathroom. The master suite is placed midship and spans the beam of the yacht. The large double bed has tables with drawers on each side along with a dressing area with wardrobes, hanging, and drawer storage. The VIP stateroom is placed forward with a large double bed and plenty of storage as well. Additionally, there are captain and crew quarters aft along with separate head/shower, galley, and direct access to the engine room.
