The Princess team at the Plymouth-based shipyard has been busy finalizing the preparations for the new Y72 which will make its debut next year. The Y-class series has been exceedingly popular with incredible new models like the Y78 and the elegant Y85. "There's no question that Princess continues to hit a homerun with every new model. Our Princess sales this year have been among the best we've ever seen," said Frank Bongiorno. "I believe this has a lot to do with the quality boat that's being built right now, but also the design and the equipment. Everything is the best and collectively it makes for an incredible boat. With people unable to travel much due to the pandemic, boating has really taken over as the recreation of choice."

Exploring The Flybridge
The Flybridge on the Y72 is as every bit for the Captain as it is for the guests enjoying the 360 degree views. The upper helm station is portside while a u-shaped lounge is starboard providing additional seating. The upper helm comes standard with dual instrumentation, controls, alarm system, VHF/RT, speed/distance log, and more. Also starboard is another u-shaped couch with a teak table for al fresco dining and a complete Naim audio system for creating the perfect vibe on board. Directly across is a full wetbar including a barbecue, sink, and refrigerator door. Two large sunpads are placed aft on the flybridge which can also convert to an extra l-shaped seat. A staircase portside takes you down to the main deck. Princess is among the very best in creating the perfect flybridge experience.
Reviewing The Main Deck Socializing Areas
From the spacious aft cockpit to the interior salon, the Y72 offers everyone on board a comfortable and luxurious boating experience. Beginning with the stern, the hydraulic swim and bathing platform is easily raised or lowered with the push of a button. Perfect for lounging in the sun or using as a scuba launching area, the bathing platform also consists of a foldaway swimming ladder and hot/cold shower.
Two sets of teak stairs lead you from the bathing platform to the aft cockpit which is a popular socializing and outdoor dining space. The large U-shaped seating area can comfortably fit 5-6 guests with deck chairs filling in the remaining spaces for your guest capacity on board. The large teak table serves as an excellent place to enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
Heading inside, the abundance of natural light is apparent thanks to the large picture windows along each side.
Immediately as you enter the aft cockpit doors, you are greeted by a full galley and dining space. This has become a popular layout design for Princess owners as they can easily prepare and serve meals directly from the galley to the cockpit table. In the galley you will find a 4-zone ceramic hob, a microwave/convection oven combination that includes a grill, a full-height refrigerator/freezer, icemaker, and plenty of storage. Across from the galley on the starboard side is the formal dining space that consists of an L-shaped couch and teak table.
The salon is the ultimate climate-controlled entertainment and relaxation area on the Princess Y72. The u-shaped sofa can accommodate 6 to 8 guests and a two-seater sofa is directly across. Behind the smaller sofa is the entertainment center that features a retractable 49" television with audio system and a Blu-ray player. A sideboard unit offers both bottle and fine glasswear storage.
The lower helm station has twin helm seats that are comfortable and easily adjustable. The interior helm contains full engine instrumentation with fuel gauges, exhaust temperature, warning systems, navigation systems, bow thruster controls, the Princess Active Ride Control, and red nighttime lighting. Staircases are forward and lead both to the master suite and the companionway to the guest staterooms.
Rejuvenation In The Lower Deck Accommodations
The lower deck accommodation layout consists of four generously sized staterooms, three heads, and a two-person crew quarters. The master suite is placed midships for a peaceful ambiance and stretches the full beam of the Y72. It features a resort-like master bathroom with a double sink vanity, full shower, and storage space. The master suite also has a full couch, 49" television, a dressing table with stool, and a dressing area with wardrobes. Large portholes provide excellent ventilation and the large windows offer marvelous views of the water's edge.
The VIP stateroom has been placed forward and is nearly as spacious as the master cabin. The VIP offers a large double berth with drawers underneath, an en suite bathroom, a full wardrobe with shelves, and large portholes for fresh air. Two more guest cabins provide single beds with the option of having one large sliding berth. They also share a head with an entrance in the companionway. Also in the stateroom lobby is the Y72's washer and dryer combination.
The interior finish throughout can be customized by the owner at the time the boat is ordered. The furniture is built exclusively for Princess and can be either Rovere Oak or Alba Oak with a satin finish. The galley countertops can be either granite or quartz depending upon your taste. Additionally, you have the choice of either a high-quality carpet and upholstery from an extensive range of options. The interior appointments that Princess offers are known to be the most luxurious and extravagant available for boat builders today.
