Ferrari's SF90 Stradale. Lamborghini's Sian FKP 37. Bugatti's Chiron Super Sport 300. The climb to be the best, the fastest, the most recognized never ends for luxury builders. The same goes for Viking Yachts who continue to innovate and produce jaw-dropping new models each year. The new Valhalla V-46 raises the proverbial bar for luxury center-console builders looking to compete with the legendary sportfish shipyard, particularly now that it can be equipped with Mercury 600HP's.
How fast does the Valhalla V-46 go? Try a 50 knot cruise and 70+ knot top speed.
If you've been considering a luxury center-console in the 45 to 50-foot range, the V46 has a base price of $1.2 million before adding options such as a Seakeeper, your must-have fishing accessories, and electronics. It's at the top of the price range for its class, but the quality, performance, and fish-ability are unmatched. It's often said that "you're paying for the Viking name" when it comes to Valhalla Boatworks and that is true. That name means something, though. Behind it are decades of experience, millions of dollars spent on advanced technology, countless fish raised, and many blue-water tournaments won. When it comes Viking Yachts, every penny is accounted for in blood, sweat, and tears.
Specifications of the Valhalla V-46:

The Valhalla V46 comes in several different hull colors:
What makes the performance on the V-46 so special?
You have may heard of Michael Peters Yacht Design before. They are "the preferred design house for discriminating builders" and their portfolio of successful yacht designs is endless. MPYD has designed hulls for well-known brands like Garlington, Contender, Cabo, Chris-Craft, and more. In other words, if you want to build the highest performing center-console on the market today, this is the team you go to.
"There is no question that the Michael Peters Yacht Design is what makes the V-46 perform exceptionally well," says Rich Lucas, Viking brand manager for SI Yachts and longtime angler. Every Valhalla has the same design traits including a S-shaped sheer, double chines, and deep-v hull shape with double steps. The result is a faster boat, a smoother ride, reduced drag, and incredible maneuverability. The Zipwake dynamic trim control system only adds to its stellar performance. Other construction features of the V-46 include:
- Hull molded fiberglass construction using closed cell foam core in selected areas for improved strength and stiffness, while minimizing the weight.
- Blister-resistant modified vinylester resin in the entire boat
- High-performance isophthalic gelcoat with superior gloss flexibility and outstanding weathering resistance
- Molded fiberglass cockpit liner with integrated gutter system
What features are in the cockpit of the V46?
Just like its sportfish siblings, the cockpit is the business end of the V-46. Whether trolling for pelagics or deep-dropping for snapper, the cockpit design is open and spacious with just the right fishing features. Facing aft, the first thing to mention are the dual 54-gallon livewells molded into the transom that are great for segregating live bait. Owners customizing their own boat can take advantage of inlet and discharge fittings in the cockpit corners that help to easily incorporate additional livewells.
Molded in to the boat's structural stringer grid is a mounting structure for a Seakeeper 6 gyro stabilization. There is a dedicated hatch for the Seakeeper compartment making service and maintenance easy to perform. If a Seakeeper is not desired, this space can be converted to an in-deck livewell.
Additionally on the deck of the cockpit, there are five fishboxes, each one insulated and equipped with Whaler Gulper pumps that are plumbed to drain overboard. There are six Gemlux SS rod holders that are lined in the cockpit combing, although more can be added if desired. Two comfortable transom seats port and starboard of the transom livewells offer a comfortable spot for additional guests on board.
No Viking-built fishing boat would be complete without a mezzanine and the V46 does not disappoint. The rear facing seat is comfortable for 2 to 3 guests facing aft that have two split boxes under the seat cushions. These boxes are refrigerated, coiled, and insulated. The backrest then folds down to reveal an incredible tackle station with lots of storage to keep you organized.
"I love all of the seating on the V-46!"
This is a comment that was heard a lot during the Viking VIP event where the V-46 made its debut. While there are so many great things to look at on this boat, it's tough not to notice the copious amount of seats under the hardtop and behind the helm. Directly aft of the helm are 3 Release Marine or Llebroc chairs with individual armrests. For the second row of seats, owners can choose four additional chairs or go with a Costa Marine bench. The second row is also slightly elevated for better visibility.
Moving forward to the bow, there is a striking three-person lounge that has been integrated into the console. It has folding armrests and almost acts as a sunpad that you'd find on a luxury yacht. This is wonderful place for friends to lounge while cruising. Forward most on the bow are port and starboard seats that feature Release Marine teak backrests.
What other cool features are on the V-46?
The helm station is loaded down with the latest technology giving you all of the information you need to find the fish. Owners have a choice between factory-installed Garmin or Simrad packages. There are 3 MFD's total including a 22-inch screen in the center with a 17-inch screen on both sides. Despite the size of these screens, the helm console remains clean. Additionally, an option for Nautic Alert V Tracker Satellite tracking system can be added for any order, although this is now required should you choose to register the boat in Florida.
Other options available on the V-46 include:
- Power options include Mercury V12 600HP engines, Mercury V8 450R engines in cold fusion white, or Mercury Verado 400's
- Owners can choose between a fiberglass hardtop with rocket launcher, spreader lights, and more or choose the custom fabricated Marlin Tower
- Gemlux outrigger bases and poles
- Electric teaser reel box and Miya Epoch reels in recessed opening in the hardtop
- You can order Diamond Bentley stitching in the upholstery
- Air-conditioning at the helm
While we've focused a lot on the power, fishing features, and seating, but one of the biggest selling points of the V-46 is its interior cabin. This spacious interior is amazing for a center-console of this size and includes a pedastal table with bench seating that converts to a berth, a kitchenette, dishwasher, and bathroom with shower.
