Updated: Princess Yachts has announced two new models in the C-Class model range, the C48 Open and C48 Enclosed Salon.
The Cannes Yachting Festival is widely known as the kick-off to boat show season as this is the first major boating event at the beginning of Fall. It is also the time that the world's top shipyards, many of which are in Europe, showcase their newest models for the first time to the public. (See New Models Debuting At Cannes) The British luxury builder Princess Yachts is planning an even bigger announcement for the show, an all-new model range.
"We can't say too much about it yet, but Princess is moving into a segment in the industry that has grown substantially in recent years," said Jay Hendrix, Vice President of SI Yachts. "The only hints I can give are that it's in a length range that's popular for cruising where the owner doesn't want a captain on board, speed is a necessity, and there is a desire for easy serviceability. You'll have to wait until September 9th to find out the rest!"

WHAT IS THE PRINCESS C-CLASS?
The exact details about the new Princess C-Class model won't be released until the start of the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, but the shipyard has released a few keywords which can give us some insight:
- "A home from home" and a "Gateway to adventure"
- "A New Attitude"
- "For those that go all out from sun-up to splashdown"
- "Re-defin(ing) open water freedom"
The video itself shows a younger crowd enjoying a fast, open-style boat. At the 4 second mark in the video we see a young man holding onto a hardtop looking at the wake behind the boat. Then at the 8 second mark, the "steps" in the hull look reminiscent of the well-known Michael Peters Yacht Design Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel Hull that we find on Valhalla Boats. With Princess and Viking having a close relationship, could Princess also be moving into a new segment like their sportfishing yacht peers?
Except the new Princess C-class to go fast, have an open-concept design, and created for maximum enjoyment on the water, even with the younger crowd.

Princess will also be debuting a brand new model - the new V65 - one which the Princess team at SI Yachts is excited to see in person.
