Princess Yachts Holds Exclusive Boat Show At Royal William Yard, Wins Awards

It's been an exciting week for Princess Yachts. The prolific British shipyard is known for its incredible events just as much as they are known for their luxury yachts. "It became evident quite quickly that they would be unable to open to the public in Dusseldorf (at the boat show), and so we said let's being Dusseldorf to Plymouth," said CEO and Executive Chairman of Princess, Antony Sheriff. And so they did.

Many of the most exclusive new models built by Princess were on display, including the X95 which recently won the "Best of the Best" award from the Robb Report. The new X80 and V50 made their worldwide debut right in their home waters. The Royal William Yard was built in the 1820's and is considered to be one of the most important groups of historic military buildings in the country.

"This is something we are very excited about, first time we have ever done it, and it's great to have everybody here," continued Antony. "We have on display a fantastic range of yachts including the X95 our flagship, the X80 which is a brand new world premiere, the V50 which is a brand new world premiere, the Y72, and others, so it's really the new generation of Princess Yachts."

At the same time the Princess Exclusive event was happening, the yacht builder had several models that won at the 2022 Motor Boat Awards. "The Motor Boat Awards are the only marine awards with the motor yacht buyer's best interests at heart," says their website. Normally held in conjunction with the Dusseldorf Boat Show, the selection process has been described as rigorous with judges sea-trialing each boat.

Winners:

For Flybridge Yachts up to 65-feet, the Princess F45 was selected as the winner over the Ferretti 500, Grand Banks GB54, and the Sunseeker Manhattan 55.

Judges: "With big shoes to fill given the provenance of its predecessor, the F45 wiped the slate clean and came to market with a thoroughly different accommodation layout and, in only the second instance in a Princess flybridge model, Volvo Penta pod drives. This may be the smallest boat in the range but it feels every inch a Princess thanks to its beautifully judged interior and some very clever design work from the team at Pininfarina."

For Flybridge Yachts over 65-Feet, the Princess Y72 was selected as the winner over the Beneteau Grand Trawler 62 and the Sunseeker Manhattan 68.

Judges: "We were fortunate enough to sea trial the Y72 in very challenging conditions in Plymouth. The boat rose to the occasion spectacularly and showed that for all the glamour, polish and attention to detail of a modern Princess motor yacht, the shipyard still gets the formula right when it comes to seakeeping. There isn’t a single area of this boat that feels compromised or under designed, which may sound easy when you’re dealing with a craft of these dimensions but certainly isn’t always the case."

"Highly Commended" - The Princess X95. While the Bluegame BG72 won in this category, the X95 was highly regarded by the judges over the Evo V8, Mulder Healey, and the Azimut Yachts Magellano 25 Metri.

Judges: "Dubbed the Superfly, this brave new wide body design makes for an exceptionally voluminous craft with such a spacious, high quality interior that it feels like it belongs to a 130ft superyacht."
