Congratulations to the team at Princess Yachts for earning a nomination at the Motor Boat Awards for the R35. As one of the most dynamic boats to debut in 2019, it's no surprise that the innovative model has caught the attention of everyone. The R35 will compete in the 'Superboats' category against several other high-profile boats including the Sunseeker Hawk 38, Fairline F/Line 33, Hinckley R34, Brabus Shadow 500, and the Iguana X100.
The winner of the award will be announced at an awards ceremony in Dusseldorf on January 21st.
The Motor Boat Awards pride themselves on being the only marine-related awards with the motor boat buyer's best interests in mind. Judges decide the winners based on several factors including the design, abilities, characteristics, and value. The Superboats category is being sponsored by Empirbus, a new Garmin technology that offers a suite of multi-function displays and components to create a "smart yacht".
The R-35 is no stranger to receiving accolades, even this early on since its inception. It recently won the "Best Yacht Design Innovation" at the Asia Boating Awards in April. "Princess went all out with the R-35," said David Hallinan, Princess specialist at SI Yachts. "The partnership with BAR Technologies and Pininfarina were critical in creating something the industry has not seen before. The R-35 combines racing technology with the Princess Active Foil System, twin direct injection V8 engines with valve timing for amazing torque and responsiveness, and carbon fiber construction for increased performance."
The Princess R35 isn't all brawn and speed (even though the 50 knots WOT is the fastest in the fleet). The Plymouth-based factory did not forget to design in some amazing sunbathing and relaxing areas on board. The cockpit offers U-shaped seating and dining space with a teak folding, removable table. LED deck level lighting enhances the ambiance at dusk and the sound system offers concert-like performance. Below deck is a comfortable U-shaped sofa/dinette that converts to a double berth with storage. There is even a galley with worktop, stainless steel sink, fridge, and more storage.
