The Cannes Yachting Festival signals the beginning of the fall boat show season each year and gives us the opportunity to see firsthand what all of the global shipyards are showcasing as new models. While there was much excitement surrounding the launch of the new M48, the first power catamaran designed by Prestige Yachts, it was the X60 that came home with the gold!
The Prestige X60 received the 'Best Innovation' Award at the World Yacht Trophies, an event that celebrates the very best achievements in yacht construction. "This is a very unique design for a luxury yacht of this size," commented Jay Hendrix, Vice President of SI Yachts. "Prestige has eliminated one side deck completely, extending the salon out and providing more space inside. You can still dock using one of the side decks. The judges obviously saw a lot of benefits in what they say throughout the interior. It's a very sharp boat."

Beginning aft, the X60 features a wide swim platform that can by controlled to hydraulically descend into the water. This isn't a new feature on a 60-foot yacht, however normally builders have historically not incorporated fold-down, rear-facing seats such as this. If you and your guests spend a lot of time enjoying the water, this may be an option you want to include.
The same style of infinity cockpit, as Prestige calls it, that was on the X70 is now also on the X60. Gone are the bulky couches and that disrupt your view of the ocean. See-through railings line the edge of the cockpit which extend out several feet like a balcony. When designing your own yacht, you will have a choice of having either a dining table with chairs or large sunpads that easily convert into lounges with backrests. Needless to say, the opportunities are endless to enjoy the outdoors.
A staircase on the starboard side of the cockpit leads to the flybridge deck. Similarly with the design of the cockpit, Prestige has created a superyacht-like atmosphere thanks to the extra beam gained by eliminating one side deck area. The flybridge deck is spacious and despite having sunloungers and a dining table for 6 guests, it still has plenty of room to walk around. Owners can select between two aft deck options on the flybridge including either an oversized sunpad, or lounge chairs if desired. A wetbar, upper helm station, a starboard L-shaped couch near the helm, and the yacht's hardtop complete the upper deck amenities.
One of the signature features of the Prestige X-series, and surely a favorite characteristic of the judges, are the massive sliding cockpit and side-salon door. When completely opened, the infinity cockpit and the interior salon immediately become a single level area for you and your guests to enjoy. Enjoy spectacular, uninterrupted views from every space on board.
The salon is noticeably more voluminous than other yachts you might have seen in this range as it stretches nearly the full beam of the X60. Large picture-sized windows line the salon walls opposite the opening side deck doors allowing in an abundance of natural light. An additional door adjacent to the helm station offers another opening for air flow, as well as gives the captain easy access to the side deck when docking. As with all Prestige Yachts, the interior is beautifully appointed with a warm, modern aesthetic.
The lower deck layout has three cabins, including a full beam master stateroom placed midship for privacy. A VIP stateroom is forward in the bow and a guest cabin with twin bunk beds is found portside. Owners building their own X60 can choose to have a private head for the third guest cabin or a closet. If the closet is chosen, the VIP cabin and guest cabin share a bathroom, with the VIP suite having a private access door to it. (Layout below with extra head.)
Owners have a choice is an inviting grey oak or walnut wood throughout the interior. The windows are also over-sized in the lower deck cabins so that, even below deck, you will never feel as if you're in the 'belly of a ship'. The staterooms are light, airy, and spacious for the ultimate on-water vacation experience. The master suite has ample storage, seating, and the same amenities you would find in your own home.
