Yacht builders often feel the need to change their models every few years to stay current with the market and to generate excitement. A 60 becomes a 63, a 70 becomes a 68, and so on. Sometimes a model just feels right and is popular enough with owners to have some staying power. The original Absolute 50 Flybridge won both European Powerboat of the Year and Best Flybridge at the Asia Boating Awards when it came out in 2017.
For the 2021 model year, Absolute Yachts has announced that a new 50 Flybridge will be unveiled, revamped for the latest technology and trends. Very little information on the new model has been released at this point and this teasing has left us on the edge of our seats. Looking at the Absolute 62 Flybridge and 47 Flybridge, both relatively new models, we can make some educated guesses as to what Absolute will unveil. The designers at the Italian luxury yacht shipyard have done an incredible job utilizing open space, making sure every room inside has a tremendous amount of light, and creating unique social areas for entertaining.
The outdoor areas on every Absolute are always enhanced with subtle details to improve your yachting experience. The bow lounge will likely have both a sunbathing option and a comfortable seating arrangement for cocktails and enjoying the view while slow cruising. The cockpit seating area on the 47 Flybridge offers a couch with a large teak table that can fit 4 additional chairs comfortably around it and has a retractable sunshade for that late afternoon sun. Expect the 50 Fly to enhance this space even further.
The flybridge on the 47 also makes good use of its 14' 8" beam. The existing 50 Flybridge has a beam of 14' 6", so we can likely expect the new 50 to have a greater beam providing even greater space throughout all living spaces.
