The Vanquish VQ80 SF is an 80-foot luxury sportfishing yacht that is set to be launched by the award-winning Dutch yacht-building firm Vanquish in 2023. This revolutionary new design looks nothing like the traditional sportfishing boats you may be accustomed to. Instead, it boasts sleek, futuristic looks more in common with the latest superyachts, and looks set to change this sector of the market forever. A sharp aluminum frame and a Petestep-designed hull with an axe-bow are joined by elevated piloting, a huge aft-cockpit, deluxe living spaces and an ultra-contemporary feel to make this yacht ideal for both chasing Marlin and sophisticated relaxation.
A teak-lined upper flybridge remains compact so that you can focus on piloting from the centrally-located upper helm station, though there is also a twin sofa up here so that guests can enjoy the experience. A proprietary tuna tower integrated into the superstructure allows for elevated reconnaissance, but you will want to head down a level to really get your hands dirty. Wide side-decks promote lateral tracking of your prey, but unlike most sportfishers this huge yacht boasts a forward lounge with a triple sunpad and a twin sofa up by the bow. At a rear mezzanine level, you will find a trio of sofas, carefully sheltered under the flybridge overhang, with a central set of steps leading down to one of the largest fishing cockpits on the market. This teak-lined space features two fold-out bulwarks that can be used to haul aboard tuna, to function as dive doors or simply be enjoyed as cocktail terraces. Fishing amenities back here include rod-holders, outriggers, a fighting chair, an ice-chipper, fish boxes, livewells, a tackle center and more, along with beach club amenities like a transom sofa and a swimming platform to stern.
Sophisticated interiors are the work of Guido de Groot, and brushed carbon-fiber, modern furnishings, dynamic glazing and innovative strip lighting give the main-deck salon a fresh and sporty feel. A central dining table in here is surrounded by an L-shaped sofa, a loveseat and a wet-bar, while up front the main helm features a piloting chair, Garmin electronics, a fish-finder and power-steering.
Take the whole family with you on fishing adventures and turn daytrips into weeks-long voyages by exploiting the cavernous sleeping quarters on the lower-deck. You can install a galley with a dinette lounge on this level or stick with a trio of cabins that can host up to four overnight guests. The master stateroom sits up by the bow and enjoys knife-insert glazing, a sunken king-sized bed, two full-height lockers, a striking lattice-work headboard and a private en-suite bathroom with a wet-room shower.
Two next-generation 2400HP Caterpillar C32B engines with surface drives provide thunderous top speeds in excess of 52 knots, while at a 48-knot cruising pace this yacht enjoys a range of 330 nautical miles, ideal for heading off to isolated fishing grounds. A Seakeeper 26 stabilizer, meanwhile, eliminates roll at anchor, turning this vessel into a steady and balanced fishing platform.
