The Vanquish VQ45 is a striking 44.5-foot aluminum performance motoryacht first launched by Dutch firebrand Vanquish Yachts in 2015. With its monolithic profile and space-age aesthetic sure to impress onlookers at the marina, it is no wonder that the fully-customizable VQ45 is one of the best-selling models in the Vanquish Yachts fleet. Despite its somewhat fearsome look, the VQ45 is versatile and easy to handle, with a roomy aft and foredeck that can host up to 16 people. Ideal for full-throttle speed enthusiasts, weekend partiers, or even quiet couple’s getaways, this yacht offers a contemporary escape from the modern world.
This boat’s generous swim platform will ease you into the water for a spot of seabathing or scuba diving. When you’re done, you can dry off in the sun atop the spacious aft sunpad (which lifts up to reveal ample storage space) while your friends chat at a plush seating area that snakes around a convivial dining table just behind the helm. As the VQ45 is fully customizable, the helm features will vary, but many owners choose a large Raymarine multi-function display with a Volvo Penta joystick and throttle level with which to dial in your perfect speed.
An optional hardtop allows for all-weather, al-fresco meals and cocktails, but the aggressive windshield extends port and starboard to protect you from the sea spray. High gunwales and relatively wide side decks lead to another sunpad on the foredeck – plenty of room for everyone to work on their tan. Forward are two facing lounge sofas and another dining table that fill the bow space, perfect for more intimate conversations and drinks and tapas at sunset.
Once below deck, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into a chill, contemporary apartment in the coolest part of Amsterdam. To starboard, you’ll find a mini galley with a Corian countertop, sink, and space for an espresso machine, as well as a small fridge-freezer for all your weekend supplies. To port, a spacious bathroom features a full-length vanity with drawers, a space for towels, a large mirror, and a toilet. The hang-out space is situated forward, with a V-shaped couch and slightly angled backrests for maximum comfort and a space-maximizing, futuristic-looking hexagonal table. Rectangular hull windows allow in just enough natural mood lighting, while recessed ceiling lights kick it up a notch when the skies are dark.
The VQ45 offers a range of engine options, each with a speed more thrilling than the next. Owners can opt for twin Volvo Penta IPS 650 engines that can race up to over 42 knots, but for those who really feel the need for speed, Quad Mercury Verado 600hp V12 outboards reach up to 63 knots.
