The Vanquish VQ16 Sports line is a 16-foot jet tender that was launched by the Dutch boat-building firm Vanquish Yachts in 2017. A joint design effort between the in-house Vanquish team, Guido de Groot and naval architects Studio Delta, this is a watercraft that has changed the world of jet tenders forever. Bearing the sort of ultra-modern and assertive looks you may find on a cutting-edge superyacht with the dimensions of a water scooter, this sleek vessel doubles as a day-boat and as a luxury water toy. A composite fiberglass hull, super-charged engines, seating for up to five and a dynamic racing helm makes this the ideal vessel for both relaxing out on the water and enjoying the thrust and agility of a jet-ski.
Though small in size this is the sort of boat that is bound to make a huge impression in any coastal or backwater setting. A horizontal sheer, a steadfast bow, a customizable metallic livery and relatively high bulwarks give this boat the feel of a super-yacht in miniature. A generous beam of almost five and a half feet provides plenty of room for stylish and contemporary seating areas for up to five on-board guests enjoying an adrenalin-fueled afternoon. Up front there are two low-slung seats in deluxe leather or bespoke upholstery with backrests and drop-down armrests, as well as space to put your drinks when the vessel is at rest.
Across the center of the boat there is a motorcycle-style padded bench seat from where you can grip the handlebars and maneuver your speedboat from a sitting or standing position. This bench seat also allows for a single guest to get up close and personal and sit directly to the aft of the pilot for a thrilling experience. A couple of bench seats to the rear offer stern-facing views and easy access to a full-beam bathing platform to transom that provides the perfect platform for setting off on warm-water swimming adventures. There is a decent amount of hidden storage throughout the deck, meaning you can bring provisions or leisure gear out with you, while the helm itself offers a digital feedback display on a geometric dashboard that looks like it has been sculpted out of brushed granite.
Standard power comes in the form of a single Yamaha 185hp propane engine with top speeds maxing out at around 45 knots. Upgrade your VQ16 Sports Line to the Veloce edition with a turbo-charged Yamaha 250hp jet-drive engine and you can enjoy high-octane speeds in excess of a stunning 53 knots. The jet-drive on this model is integrated flat into the hull itself, making it perfect for storage in a tender garage.
