The Viking 82MY is an 84-foot luxury motor yacht with a 20-foot beam that was launched by New Jersey-based Viking Yachts in 2017. As a super-yacht that matches any Italian vessel in terms of style, comfort and size, the 82MY represents a departure from the norm for Viking, who are more usually found producing market-leading sport-fishing yachts. Yet this sleek tri-deck yacht retains a number of signature Viking qualities including a proprietary hull built for speed, a bespoke helm station, and even an aft-cockpit tailor-made for sportfishing aficionados, a true rarity on yachts of this class.

This yacht’s flybridge comes as either an open space or as an enclosed bridge with a hard-top, though both feature masses of teak-lined space. At the front of each is a raised helm station with instrumentation installed by Atlantic Marine Electronics including joystick controls, power-steering, Garmin touch-screen panels and thruster controls. A central leather-clad helm chair with superb visibility is flanked by a pair of forward-facing sofas so that up to four guests can also enjoy the piloting experience. To starboard on the open top model there is a walk-in wet-bar with water-proofed stone worktops, refrigeration, an icemaker and an electric grill, while on the enclosed model you will find plenty of walnut-lined cabinetry and a 65-inch HD TV. There is a sprawling seating area to port, including a dining sofa with a table as well as a sunpad on the open top model, with a more sedate low-slung sofa lounge on the enclosed edition. The rear of both bridges remains open to the elements and can be used as an aft-sun deck or as storage for water tenders.
One level down and you will discover a lavish foredeck lounge with a Portuguese Bridge-style sofa across from a four-seater sun-pad with marina-facing views, while at the rear there is a sheltered aft-deck with a dining sofa and table. What truly sets the Viking 82MY apart from its competitors, however, is the aft cockpit, an innovative inclusion aboard what is essentially a super-yacht. The cockpit comes with a transom door leading to a full-beam, teak-lined swimming platform, and has been equipped with fishing essentials such as a livewell, fish boxes, tackle storage, flush rod holders and a floor plate for a fighting chair or a set of rocket launchers. This adaptable space can also be turned into an aft-beach club, or even used to host your water toys.
Sumptuous main-deck interior spaces lined in glossy walnut benefit from wrap-around windows and recessed lighting for a refined and elegant atmosphere. The salon boasts a low-slung, C-shaped sofa and a pair of armchairs surrounding a centerpiece coffee table, where up to a dozen guests can relax in sheer comfort. Positioned centrally is a walk-in galley with stone worktops and country-kitchen dimensions, which comes with either a breakfast bar and stools or with a formal dining table. The galley features high-end Miele appliances including a four-zone hob, a combination oven and under-counter fridge-freezer units. Also hosted on the main deck are a pair of forward dining lounges with two L-shaped corner sofas and twin dining tables, and a main day head.
Four en-suite bedrooms on the lower deck impress with plenty of space and dramatic views across the water out of wide porthole or trapezoidal windows. There are two master staterooms and a twin, though the star attraction on this level is undeniably the full-beam owner’s stateroom. This palatial suite features a king-sized bed, a work-desk, a sofa, a walk-in dressing room with walnut-lined closets and a bathroom with a pair of sinks. Should you require staff assistance on your long voyages out to sea, there is also a privately accessed crew quarters at the rear with its own head and overnight sleeping for up to 3.
The Viking 82MY can be fitted with a range of powerful engines, from MAN V12s and CAT C32B twins all the way up to a pair of MTU V12 M96X 2002MHP diesels. Should you go with the most expensive option then your money will buy you top speeds in excess of 40 knots, making this yacht faster than 95% of boats in its class. This vessel’s proprietary GRP planing hull, meanwhile, provides plenty of balance and lift as you accelerate through the waves, offering the sort of agility required to track down and chase the quickest pelagic fish around.
