80 Convertible
The Viking 80EB is an 80-foot sportfishing yacht with an enclosed bridge that was launched by the New Jersey-based yacht building firm in 2016. Fine-tuned for tournament fishing in both bluewater and inshore conditions and featuring a striking profile with a super-fine bow, the Viking 80EB has also been designed to accommodate the entire family on long expeditions out to sea. The Viking 80 Convertible offers the same performance and fishing features, only in an open bridge format.
As with other Viking sportfishing yachts, this vessel can be fitted with a bespoke Palm Beach tuna tower for elevated viewing and piloting. For piloting safely ensconced away from unfavorable weather, however, the enclosed bridge is your best bet. Here you will discover a centrally positioned helm station with a leather Stidd helm chair, a dashboard installed by Atlantic Marine Electronics, excellent visibility out of a wrap-around windshield, and all the piloting gadgets you will require, including VIPER steering and bow thrusters. The bridge is also a great place to hang out with friends, as it also includes a pair of forward-facing bucket sofas and an L-shaped sofa to port that hugs an angled, teak-topped coffee table. A secure door at the rear of the bridge leads out to an al-fresco aft-bridge with a loveseat, views out across the stern and a set of aft-helm controls for docking.
On the main deck there is a 216-square foot aft cockpit lined in teak or fiberglass that has been tailor-made for tournament bill-fishing. A transom door with a lift gate, a freezer, an Eskimo ice-chipper, tackle storage, bait trays, fish boxes, a live-well, salt and freshwater hoses, hidden compartments and a floor plate for rocket launchers or fighting chairs are among the amenities that come as standard on the Viking 80 Enclosed Bridge. There is also access back here to an M26 Seakeeper stabilizer for those who require reduced roll out on choppy waters, and a mezzanine level with a Sunbrella sofa.
While many a sportfishing yacht owner must make do with utilitarian and spartan arrangements indoors, the Viking 80EB impresses with sumptuous and comfortable interior spaces. Walls and cabinets lined in walnut or teak, floors laid with fine carpeting, furnishings decked out in leather and side windows with panoramic dimensions await as you step into the salon. There is a large U-shaped sofa with a coffee table and armchairs to port, and a day-head, cabinet space and a staircase up to the bridge to starboard. Moving further inside you will discover a C-shaped dining sofa with a breakfast table, and the walk-in galley with Amtico flooring, granite worktops, a four-zone hob, a Sub-Zero fridge, a double sink, a combination oven and a cocktail bar with three stools. At the front of the internal cockpit there is a pantry that can be switched out for a main-deck guest cabin, as well as a kit-room for all that extra fishing gear.
The lower-deck shares a lay-out with the Viking 80C, and boasts five en suite double staterooms for up to ten overnight guests. A pair of bunk berths sit to starboard, while there are two double bedrooms, with one to port and another nestled up by the bow. The owner’s stateroom on this model is a full-beam retreat fit for royalty, with a king-sized island bed, a loveseat, a work-desk, two side windows, maple-lined closets and an en suite with a pair of sinks and a large fiberglass shower cubicle.
The Viking 80EB comes fitted with your choice of either CAT C32B or MTU V16 M96L twin diesel engines for rip-roaring speeds that will outpace even the fastest bluefin. If you choose the MTU set then you can expect full-throttle speeds breaking the 40-knot barrier, with comfortable cruising exceeding 30 knots. A proprietary planing hull designed by the in-house Viking team combines a sharp entry, high forward chines and convex hull sections for a dry, balanced and buoyant ride wherever you end up taking this exceptionally sporty vessel.
