The Viking 76C is a 76-foot convertible sportfishing yacht with a flybridge that was launched by the New Jersey-based boat building firm in 2010. Though no longer produced as new by Viking, this vessel remains incredibly popular on the used and charter markets thanks to its serious tournament fishing credentials, head-of-the-pack speeds and luxurious accommodation.
Buyers of the Viking 76C have the option of attaching a bespoke Palm Beach tuna tower to their vessel for elevated reconnaissance, piloting and angling, though even without this addition the boat is perfect for dedicated fishermen. A teak-lined 206-square foot aft-cockpit comes equipped with a livewell, drop-in fish boxes, a transom door and lift gate, tackle storage, Rupp outriggers, an Eskimo ice-chipper, flush and mounted rod holders, fresh and raw-water spigots, a bait freezer and a floor plate for a fighting chair or rocket launcher. There is also a mezzanine level back here with a drinks cooler and a leather sofa.
One level up and you will find either an enclosed or open-top flybridge. The enclosed bridge features a forward helm station with seating at the rear, while on the open model the flybridge boasts a walk-around helm station with cocoon-style seating positioned forward. The helm features instrumentation installed by Atlantic Marine Electronics, Stidd or similar helm chairs, Garmin or Furuno touch-screen panels, Simrad autopilot, bow thrusters, a teak helm pod and ultra-responsive VIPER steering.
In the main deck salon the emphasis is squarely on luxury, with plush carpeting, leather furnishings, teak or walnut surfaces and plenty of natural light streaming in through wrap-around side windows. There is an L-shaped sofa with a coffee table to starboard, along with a day-head and either steps up to the bridge or glossy cabinetry to port. The Viking 76C features an open-plan island galley as standard, with granite worktops, an electric hob, Sub-Zero under-counter fridge and freezer units, a combination oven and a serving bar with three stools. Across from the galley there is a U-shaped dining sofa surrounding a breakfast table, as well as a niche pantry and steps down to the lower level at the front of the cockpit.
On the lower deck there is room for up to 8 guests across a pair of en-suite single cabins, two en-suite double staterooms and a full-beam owner’s stateroom positioned amidship. The owner’s stateroom features a pair of hull windows, a work desk or vanity station, an armchair with a side table, a king-sized island bed, maple-lined hanging closets, lavish carpeting and a large private bathroom with a shower cubicle.
The Viking 76C zips across the water like a yacht half its size, thanks to powerful engines and a proprietary planing hull. Engine options start with MAN V12s all the way through to a pair of MTU 16V M93 2400MHP diesels. If you go with the MTUs then you can expect full-throttle top speeds in the range of 42 knots, an incredible achievement for a yacht of this size and tonnage, with comfortable cruising clocking in at around 33 knots. Should you choose to cruise at the lower speed of 17 knots, meanwhile, you will be pleased to know that this vessel has an ocean-going range of over 1,100 nautical miles.
