The Viking 75 Motor Yacht is a 78-foot luxury vessel with a 20-foot beam that was launched by New Jersey-based Viking Yachts in 2015. The Viking 75MY represents a stunning break from the norm for Viking, who are more commonly found building market-leading, tournament-ready sportfishing yachts. In fact, the 75MY is the first motor yacht launched by the firm since 2001, and this tri-deck model proves that they can do opulence and style just as well as any Italian boat builder. The Viking 75MY was designed in collaboration with Sarasota’s Michael Peters to deliver a hull that is as sporty and as nimble as any fishing yacht, with spacious accommodation that exceeds all expectations of comfort and luxury.
This yacht comes with either an enclosed or open flybridge with masses of space. On the open model you will find a rear sunlounge with space for seating and a triple sunpad, a walk-in wet-bar with stone worktops, an electric grill and an icemaker, a U-shaped dining sofa with a table, and a pair of L-shaped forward sofas either side of the helm. The enclosed model retains a smaller al-fresco aft-bridge to the rear with room for an elevated sunpad and a wet-bar console, and provides plenty of sumptuous seating and walnut or teak cabinetry indoors. The enclosed bridge version is ideal for all-weather cruising, but also comes with a glazed retractable sunroof for those days when the sun shines bright. Both models feature a centrally located upper helm station installed by Atlantic Marine Electronics with superb visibility and the sort of instrumentation you would normally only find on a dedicated tournament or trawler yacht. There are Garmin touch-screen panels, hydraulic bow thruster controls, a CAT Three60 joystick and a proprietary VIPER steering system for sportscar-like agility, all encased in a teak-lined dashboard.
Broad timber and fiberglass steps to starboard lead down to a teak-lined aft-deck featuring a leather U-shaped sofa surrounding a teak dining table, a pair of armchairs and side steps down to a full-beam, Opacmare swimming platform that can be used as a tender lift. Take a stroll down wide side-deck passageways to the foredeck and, safely enclosed by stainless steel guardrails, there is a Portuguese Bridge-style sofa as well as a large double sunpad for marina-facing sunbathing.
The internal salon on the Viking 75MY benefits from huge teardrop windows and recessed LED lighting to keep this glossy timber-lined space brightly lit in all conditions. There is a large sofa and coffee table to port, as well as a loveseat and cabinetry, with room for a 65-inch HD TV, to starboard. Moving amidship and lucky owners of this yacht can choose an enclosed galley with a formal dining table, or an open galley with a four-seater serving bar. The galley comes with engineered stone worktops, below counter fridge-freezer units and Miele appliances ranging from a four-zone electric hob and a convection oven to an espresso machine. Also to be found on this level is a day-head and a double-sized forward dinette with leather dining sofas and stunning views out of mullioned front windows.
The lower-deck level boasts an overnight capacity for 8 guests across four en-suite double bedrooms, including a twin room to starboard, a double to port and a master stateroom to the bow. Yet the amidship full-beam owner’s stateroom is without doubt the pick of the bunch, and features trapezoidal side windows, a California King bed, a port-side three-seater sofa, a starboard work-desk, a walk-in dressing room with teak, walnut or maple-lined closets and an en-suite so big it requires its own hull window. For those who require crew to assist them with long voyages out to sea, there is also room at the rear for a staff cabin sleeping up to four with its own bathroom facilities.
Viking’s sporty heritage really comes to the fore when looking at the 75MY’s performance credentials. This yacht comes with a pair of MAN V12 1550MHP engines as standard, though there are plenty of upgrade options for those who require that extra burst of speed. MTU V12 M96L 1945MHP twins or a pair of CAT C32B 2025MHP diesels are among the more powerful engines that customers can choose, and should you opt for these top-of-the-range motors you can expect top speeds of around 35 knots with cruising speeds clocking in at 30 knots. The Viking 75MY can also be fitted with a Seakeeper 26 gyrostabilizer for reduced roll out in choppy waters, though the resin-infused hull provides plenty of natural balance, lift and a dry ride in a range of conditions.
