The Viking 72EB is a 72-foot sportfishing yacht with an enclosed flybridge that was launched by the New Jersey-based boat building firm in 2016. Sharing many features with the Viking 72C open-top model but with a covered bridge and an altered main deck layout, the 72EB combines the very best in tournament-ready fishing practicality with the sort of space and comfort that families will love.
As with all of Viking’s sportfishing yachts this vessel can be fitted with a bespoke Palm Beach tuna tower for elevated reconnaissance and piloting on a lightweight and secure platform. The bridge on this model features a centrally located helm station equipped with VIPER steering, Garmin navigational equipment, instrumentation installed by Atlantic Marine Electronics, thruster controls and superb visibility out of the sloping, wrap-around windshield. A single Stidd helm chair in black Ultra-leather is complemented by a pair of bucket-sofas and, to the rear, an L-shaped lounge sofa with an angular coffee table. There is also space up here for plenty of storage and an external aft deck with a loveseat.
On the main deck there is an aft-cockpit boasting 209-square feet of dedicated fishing space with a mezzanine level hosting a three-seater Sunbrella sofa, hidden storage and a drinks cooler. The cockpit comes with a transom door and lift gate, a refrigerated livewell, fish boxes, tackle storage, flush rod holders, tiered bait trays, fresh and saltwater hoses and a floor plate for the rocket launcher or fighting chair of your choice.
The internal salon on this model benefits from a 20-foot beam, wrap-around windows, surfaces in satin-finished walnut and a design treatment from the studio of William Bales for a light and breezy feel. There is a large L-shaped sofa with a matching coffee table to port, while to starboard you will find a convenient day-head and curved steps up to the bridge. Alongside this sits a U-shaped dining sofa with a Hi-Lo table, and an island galley kitchen with granite worktops, a cocktail bar with three stools, a three-zone hob, a combination oven, a Sub-Zero fridge and plenty of storage space. At the front of the salon, you will find a spacious storage room that can be turned into a pantry or even a main deck cabin.
Below deck accommodation on the Viking 72EB is identical to that of the 72C, with three en suite staterooms hosting up to 7 guests. At the bow there is a double room that can be fitted with an extra single bunk bed, to port there is a double bunk berth, while positioned amidship you will find the owner’s stateroom. This lavish en suite room comes with a king-sized island bed, maple-lined closets, space for a work-desk or loveseat and a pair of bedside tables. At the rear of the lower deck there is also a privately accessed double bunk berth that can be used as a crew quarters.
The Viking 72 Enclosed Bridge can be fitted with a range of engine options, though a pair of MAN V12 1550 MHP diesels come installed as standard. Upgrade options include a pair of CAT C32B engines with 2025 horsepower, or top-of-the-range MTU V16 M96L twins with horsepower of 2635MHP. If you go with the latter option, you will enjoy top speeds of around 46 knots, with cruising speeds of 35 knots. A proprietary planing hull designed at the Viking headquarters in New Gretna, New Jersey gives this yacht a dry, balanced and buoyant ride, while the 72EB can also be fitted with a Seakeeper stabilizer for reduced roll in unstable conditions.
