The Viking 70C is a 70-foot convertible sportfishing yacht with a flybridge that was launched by Viking Yachts in 2010. Though this model is no longer built to order at the Viking factory in New Gretna, NJ, the 70C remains a popular choice on the used and charter markets due to its sporty looks, fishing prowess and its ability to double as a luxurious cruising yacht for the whole family.

This Viking impresses at profile thanks to a super-fine bow, a sleek carbon-fiber superstructure and a lofty optional tuna tower installed by Viking subsidiary Palm Beach Towers. Yet this yacht has real substance to go with the style. A 206-square foot aft-cockpit is lined in weather-proof teak and hosts essential fishing features such as a transom door with a lift gate, an in-deck livewell, a chilled bait locker, tackle storage, flush rod holders, an Eskimo ice-chipper and a floor plate for a Murray fishing chair and rocket launcher. There is also a tiered mezzanine level back here with a leather sofa, a drinks chiller and an outdoor grill, as well as floor access to a Seakeeper M26 stabilizer.
The fishing experience is further enhanced thanks to the 70C’s open flybridge where you will discover a walk-around helm station facing three Release Marine Trillian helm chairs in authentic leather and polished teak. The helm has been kitted out by Atlantic Marine Electronics and features goodies such as Garmin or Furuno display panels, thruster controls, ultra-responsive VIPER steering, a teak helm pod, FLIR night-vision, an Octoplex control panel, VHF radio and a Richie compass. Also located up on this level is a forward seating area with a pair of chaise-longues and a curved sofa so that guests can enjoy watching the captain in action.
Upon entering the main deck salon through a Stanley electric door, you will immediately understand why Viking are considered to produce the most luxurious sportfishing yachts on the market. Glossy teak or walnut surrounds are matched by an R-shaped leather sofa with a maple-topped coffee to starboard and a cabinet area with an HD TV to port. Further inside you will discover a U-shaped dining sofa hugging a large breakfast table across from an island galley kitchen with granite counters, a Kenyon four-zone hob, under-counter Sub-Zero fridge-freezer units, Amtico flooring, a combination oven and a serving bar with three stools. At the front of the internal cockpit there is even room for a pantry and a forward-facing lounge, as well as steps down to the lower deck.
Overnight accommodation for up to 8 guests is split across a pair of en-suite bunk berths and two en-suite master staterooms. The owner’s stateroom features a king-sized island bed, bedside cabinets, a corner sofa, maple-lined hanging closets, a work desk or vanity station and a bathroom with Corian counters and a fiberglass shower stall.
Despite the size of this vessel lucky owners of the Viking 70C can expect top speeds to hit the 44-knot mark thanks to a pair of high-end MTU M94 diesel inboards with 2,600MHP. At lower cruising speeds of around 13 knots, meanwhile, this exquisite yacht has an ocean-going range of around 1,250 nautical miles, more than enough to take you out into the Atlantic and back in pursuit of your prized pelagic fish.
