80 Convertible
The Viking 68C is a 68-foot convertible sportfishing yacht with a flybridge that was released to the public by the New Jersey-based boat building firm back in the fall of 2017. Upon launch the 68C was met with a host of glittering reviews from industry magazines, and quickly became a best-selling model for Viking. It is easy to see why. This boat combines tournament-ready game-fishing credentials with the sort of luxury and amenity that makes it equally suitable for family cruising, and of course sports the sort of style and reliability that are a hallmark of the Viking brand.
This yacht comes with a Palm Beach tuna tower affixed to the flybridge, where serious fishermen can keep their eyes open for bluefin tuna and man the upper steering wheel and throttle controls. Aluminum ladders lead down to a flybridge with a hard-top and a Costa Clear enclosure for piloting safe from the elements. Here you will discover three Stidd helm chairs in teak and leather and a walk-around helm station with Atlantic Marine Electronics instrumentation, a VIPER steering system (the acronym stands for Viking Independent Programmable Electro-hydraulic Rudder) and thruster controls. There is also room up here for a forward-facing sofa, a pair of curved side sofas, a tub freezer and rod storage.
On the main deck you will find a cockpit with 176-square feet of dedicated fishing space that comes with a transom door and lift-gate, a bait freezer, a live well, tackle storage, flush rod holders, fresh and saltwater hoses, Glendinning Cablemaster power cords and a floor plate for the fighting chair or rocket launcher of your choice. The teak-lined cockpit also comes with a mezzanine Sunbrella sofa for those times when even the most energetic angler must take a break, as well as integral JL Audio speakers so that you can provide the perfect soundtrack to your fishing adventures.
Air-conditioned internal spaces transform the Viking 68C from a utilitarian fishing machine into a lavish weekend cruiser capable of hosting an entire family in sumptuous style. Upon entering you will discover an enclosed day-head to starboard and a large L-shaped sofa with a coffee table to port. Plenty of cabinetry in high-gloss walnut is complemented by furnishings in leather and floors lavishly carpeted to give the aft salon a refined and comfortable feel. Positioned amidship there is a port-side U-shaped dining sofa with a Hi-Lo breakfast table, while to starboard there is a walk-in galley kitchen. The galley comes with a three-seater cocktail bar, Corian worktops, Amtico flooring, a two-zone hob, a combination oven, a Sub-Zero fridge and a large sink.
Below deck there are four en suite bedrooms for up to 7 overnight guests. A rear bunk-berth doubles as a convenient crew quarters, while a port-side single and a double stateroom towards the bow offer comfortable sleeping spaces with ample storage. The pick of the bunch down here, however, is the owner’s stateroom, which comes with a queen-sized island bed, a pair of maple-lined hanging closets, bedside tables and an en suite with marble-quartz surfaces and a fiberglass shower cubicle.
This yacht can be fitted with a number of different engines, with a pair of MAN V12s coming as standard. Available as upgrades, however, are twin CAT C32B 2025 MHP engines or two MTU V12 M96X engines, which can reach top speeds of around 40 knots with cruising speeds of 36 knots. A lightweight yet durable hull construction utilizing both carbon fiber and Kevlar has already proved its worth out on the sea, with the Viking 68C coming out on top in a number of tournaments, including a win at Palm Beach’s Buccaneer Cup Sailfish Release Tournament. The Viking 68C also comes with a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer for increased balance when out on choppy waters, with access via cockpit door.
