The Viking 64EB is a 64-foot convertible sportfishing yacht with an enclosed bridge that was launched by the New Jersey-based boat building firm back in 2006. Sharing an identical hull and similar design to the Viking 64C, this yacht differs from its sibling due to a slightly different main-deck lay-out and the ability for all-weather piloting on enclosed upper helm station. Though no longer produced as new at the Viking shipyard in New Gretna, NJ, the 64EB retains its allure on the used and charter markets thanks to its superb handling, undeniable fishing prowess and spacious luxury accommodation.
Viking has recently announced the production of a new, second-generation 64 Convertible that will have an enclosed bridge version. The first generation 64C is available on the brokerage market.
Should you feel the need for open-air, elevated piloting then you will be pleased to know that this vessel can come fitted with a bespoke tuna tower courtesy of Viking subsidiary Palm Beach Towers. Though if you forego the tower then there is still plenty of opportunity for commanding your vessel from the lofty internal helm station. This centrally located position benefits from a leather Stidd helm chair and a pair of forward bucket sofas as well as a dashboard with electronics installed by Atlantic Marine Electronics. You will expect to find Teleflex Sea Star steering up here along with Side Power thruster controls, a Northstar 972 chart-plotter and Vei monitors, with upgrades to Garmin or Raymarine available. There is also room up on this plush bridge for an L-shaped sofa and coffee table, teak or walnut cabinets and an open aft-deck with a water-proof loveseat and a set of aft-helm controls for docking.
Viking Yachts stake their reputation on tournament-winning cockpits and the 64EB’s aft-cockpits shows why. This 180-square foot space boasts a transom door and lift gate, a livewell, chilled fish boxes, fresh and salt-water hoses, flush rod holders, bait storage, an icemaker and a floorplate for a fighting chair, along with other fishing essentials. There is also a mezzanine level out here with a sofa and a drinks cabinet for those experienced fishers who prefer to wait for a bite while seated.
Sedate internal spaces on the Viking 64EB feature satin or gloss teak cabinets, plush carpeting and leather furnishings such as an L-shaped sofa with hidden storage. There is also a curved staircase up the bridge and U-shaped dining sofa with a Hi-Lo table in here, sitting across from a walk-in galley with granite counters, a Kenyon 4-zone stovetop, a combination oven, a number of under-counter Sub-Zero fridge-freezer units, cherry Amtico floors and a stainless-steel sink. Below-deck there is accommodation for up to six overnight guests across an en-suite twin, an en-suite master double bedroom and a capacious owner’s stateroom. This lavish bedroom boasts a queen-sized island bed, maple or cedar-lined hanging lockers, bedside cabinetry and a bathroom with authentic granite surfaces, frosted glass doors and a shower cubicle.
Lucky buyers of this yacht can expect top speeds of around 40 knots thanks to a pair of MTU 16V M93 2030MHP diesel engines, though you can also choose to go with the less expensive twin CAT C32 engines with top speeds of 35 knots. Though the 64EB benefits from a proprietary Viking hull providing plenty of natural balance and agility on the turn, this yacht can also be equipped with a Seakeeper stabilizer for reduced roll when out at sea.
