The Viking 62EB is a 63-foot sportfishing yacht with an enclosed bridge that was launched by the renowned New Jersey boat building firm in 2013. This boat shares many similarities with the 62 Convertible, including an identical hull crafted out of Kevlar, carbon fiber and knitted fiberglass, but above the waterline it is a different story. New layouts, an internal staircase and an enclosed pilothouse make this the perfect yacht for all-weather tournament fishing, as well as weekend cruising with the family in more northerly climes.
Though the emphasis here is on internal spaces, the Viking 62EB can still be equipped with a bespoke Palm Beach tuna tower for elevated reconnaissance and steering. And the enclosed bridge on this model maintains Viking’s signature focus on fishing feasibility by placing the helm station in a central, forward position with superb visibility through the wrap-around curved windscreen. The helm comes with a single Stidd piloting chair, a leather-clad dashboard fitted out by Atlantic Marine Electronics, Garmin radar, bow thruster controls and power-assisted steering. The flybridge is also a superb place for relaxation and boasts an L-shaped sofa with a coffee table to starboard, a forward-facing loveseat to port and plenty of cabinetry. To the rear of the bridge is a raised open aft-deck with a rear-facing double seat and a set of al-fresco aft-helm controls.
One level down and there has been no expense spared in equipping the 172-foot aft-cockpit with all the fishing equipment and amenities necessary to come out victorious in any tournament. A transom door with a lift gate, a refrigerated live well, fish boxes, tiered tackle storage, flush rod holders and a floor plate for a fighting chair or rocket launcher are just some of the pieces of custom kit that come as standard with this model. There is also a mezzanine level out here with a three-seater leather sofa, for those who like to fish from a more comfortable position.
The internal salon on the Viking 62EB is a plush and refined space decked out in satin-finished walnut, glossy teak, authentic leather and fine carpeting, with plenty of room to entertain guests. An L-shaped sofa with a coffee table sits to port, while to starboard there is ample storage space and a hand-made spiral staircase with access to the enclosed bridge. Amidship you will find a dining sofa with a breakfast table as well as a walk-in galley with granite worktops, a serving bar with two stools, a two-zone hob, a combination oven and a Sub-Zero below-counter fridge.
Below deck you will discover rest room for up to 7 guests across a single cabin with a Jack-and-Jill en suite, a twin bunk berth, a master double room with an en suite to the bow and an en suite owner’s stateroom to port. The owner’s room comes with maple-lined hanging closets, bedside tables and a queen-sized island bed.
The Viking 62 Enclosed Bridge can be fitted with a number of different engine options, from the standard pair of MAN V12 1550MHP diesels, through to CAT C32B 2025MHP twins and a top-of-the-range pair of MTU M96X 2002MHP engines. If you go with the latter option you can expect to see top speeds of up to 42 knots, with cruising speeds in the range of 35 knots, hugely impressive considering the extra weight this vessel carries when compared to the open bridge model.
