The Viking 58C is a 58-foot convertible sportfishing yacht with a flybridge that was launched by the New Jersey boating building company in 2018. Viking sold more than a dozen models per year of the 58C’s original iteration, released way back in 1991, and all signs point to this latest version becoming just as popular. A sleek and sporty exterior, a hull fine-tuned for both inshore and offshore fish-chasing, luxurious accommodation, a vast aft cockpit and the option of installing your very own Palm Beach tuna tower make this a tournament-ready vessel that stands out from the crowd.
The flybridge on this Viking Sportfish comes with a fiberglass hard-top, a Costa Clear detachable windscreen and Viking’s signature walk-around helm station for practical and intuitive piloting in all weather conditions. The helm boasts a polished teak wheel pod, recessed controls provided by Atlantic Marine Electronics and Garmin, bow thrusters, a stainless-steel power-assisted steering wheel and a pair of Release Marine piloting chairs. There is also room up here for a pair of gently curving side sofas and a forward-facing love seat so that budding captains do not have to pilot their vessel alone.
Access down to the aft-cockpit is via a one-piece anodized aluminum ladder, and this brings you to a 165-square foot, teak-lined space engineered solely around the art of fishing. Across the full-length of the starboard side is an insulated and removable fishbox, while to port you will find a pair of storage units, and a forward multi-purpose live-well. Also fitted as standard are a transom door with a lift gate, flush rod holders, a freezer and a laminated mounting plate for the fighting chair or rocket launcher of your choice. All cockpit doors and lids utilize stainless steel pistons, gaskets and integral gutters for ease of use and superb reliability. Also positioned out on the cockpit is a mezzanine sofa for three providing much needed rest between hauling your marlin and billfish onto deck.
Interior spaces on the Viking 58C elevate this yacht from mere utilitarian sport-fisher into something exquisite. Teak or walnut surrounds are complemented by wrap-around windows, lavish leather and hand-stitched upholstery for a plush feel. To the rear you will find an L-shape sofa with a matching coffee table and plenty of cabinetry, while positioned amidship there is a U-shaped dining sofa with a Hi-Lo Mappa Burl table, and a walk-in galley. The galley comes equipped with stone worktops, a serving bar with two stools, Amtico flooring, a four-zone hob, a combination oven, a Sub-Zero fridge and a large stainless-steel sink.
Lower-deck accommodation provides rest room for up to 6 overnight guests depending on the configuration you choose. A port-side master stateroom boasts a queen-sized bed, bedside tables, a large hanging closet lined in maple and an en suite with satin nickel fixtures and a fiberglass shower cubicle. Two further bedrooms include a starboard-side single berth and a double towards the bow that can also be fitted with a pull-down single bunk. These two rooms share a main head with a shower.
The Viking 58C comes equipped with a pair of MAN V12 1400MHP engines as standard, but these can be upgraded to MAN V12 1900MHP or MTU 2000 V10 engines for that extra kick of power. If you choose the MTU option then the yacht can hit top speeds of 42 knots with ease, while at cruising speeds of 36 knots you will enjoy a range of 400 nautical miles. The yacht’s proprietary hull, meanwhile, benefits from aggressively positioned strakes and a soft bottom for a dry, balanced and quick ride.
