The Viking 54SC is a 54-foot sports coupe fishing yacht that was launched by New Jersey-based Viking Yachts in 2021. Based on the same basic design and hull as the Viking 54 Open, a boat that won the coveted title for “Best in Show” at the 2020 Ford Lauderdale Boat Show, the 54SC impresses with a sleek and sporty Great Lakes-style hardtop command deck for all-weather fishing and cruising. As with other Viking sportfishing models, the 54SC can come fitted with an optional custom-made tuna tower provided by Viking subsidiary Palm Beach Towers, to turn this into the 54ST, a yacht that is in all other respects identical to the 54SC.
This yacht benefits from a 154-square foot aft cockpit, one of the largest you will ever find on a yacht of this class, that has been tailor-made for tournament fishing. This teak-lined space features fisherman favorites such as a transom door with a lift gate, a transom livewell, recessed fish boxes, tiered tackle trays, cooler storage, flush rod holders, fresh and salt-water hoses and a floor plate for a fighting chair or a rocket launcher. The aft cockpit also hosts a split mezzanine level with a pair of two-seater sofas, as well as floor access to a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer.
Stepping indoors you will find a large U-shaped leather sofa hugging a teak breakfast table, as well as an L-shape lounge sofa to starboard, while the entire command deck remains well-lit and breezy thanks to wrap-around windshield glazing and panoramic windows to the rear. Up front there are a pair of helm chairs and a bucket-style helm sofa sitting across from a vast helm station with a dashboard installed by Atlantic Marine Electronics that will delight owner-operators. This helm boasts a teak steering pod, Optimus power steering, trim tab and thruster controls, Garmin touch-screen instrumentation, engine feedback display, Bocatech switches and a VHF radio.
On the climate-controlled lower deck there is room for a 2 or 3 cabin layout for up to four guests, though if you go with the latter option, you will sacrifice some dinette space. The main draw down here is the master stateroom to the bow, which impresses with a double island bed, walnut-lined closets, plush carpeting and its own en-suite bathroom with a shower. Also situated on the lower deck is a spacious galley and dinette featuring a dining sofa with a table, stone worktops, a four-zone electric hob, a combination oven, under-counter fridge-freezer units, a large sink and Amtico flooring, as well as a main lower-deck day-head.
The Viking 54SC is equipped with MAN V12 1550 MHP engines for top speeds of 42 knots and cruising speeds of 32 knots. A proprietary hull with a razor-sharp entry and a raked stem, meanwhile, offers a dry and balanced ride as you head out across both inshore and bluewater conditions in pursuit of the elusive bluefin tuna.
