80 Convertible
The Viking 54 Open is a 54-foot open express sportfishing yacht that was launched by the New Jersey-based boat building company in 2021. An open deck version of the 54 Convertible that was crowned “Best in Show” at the 2020 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, this yacht is set to be a best-seller thanks to its combination of serious tournament-fishing credentials, luxury amenity and sleek, sporty style.
For the ultimate in elevated fishing this yacht can be fitted with a custom-made Palm Beach tuna tower, though even without this addition the 54 Open is a superb sportfishing boat thanks to a 154-square foot cockpit. This teak-lined space boasts a transom door with a lift gate, a GlassTech livewell system with three chambers, a huge fish box, flush and mounted rod holders, a Dometic ice-chipper, a tackle locker, three chilled storage boxes, a mounted floor plate for rocket launchers or fighting chairs and access to a Seakeeper 9 gyro stabilizer. Also out here is a mezzanine level with a couple of sofas and a drinks fridge for when you need to kick back and relax after hauling your catches on board.
The spacious command deck features an L-shape lounge sofa to starboard and a U-shaped dining sofa with a breakfast table to port, providing plenty of relaxation space generously lit by wrap-around windows and an open aspect to the rear. At the front of the command deck, you will find three comfortable leather helm chairs facing an Atlantic Marine Electronics dashboard with Garmin displays, Bocatech switches, thruster and trim tab controls and a teak steering pod with Optimus Electronic Power Steering.
Below deck the Viking 54 Open can come with either two or three staterooms for up to four overnight guests, though if you go for the latter option, you will sacrifice a dinette space with an L-shaped dining sofa and a Mappa Burl table. The pick of the bedrooms down here is undoubtedly the master stateroom to the bow which features a double island bed, maple-lined closets and a private en suite bathroom with a shower. There is also a separate day-head with a shower down, as well as large open-plan kitchen with teak or walnut cabinetry, stone worktops, under-counter fridge and freezer units, a two-zone hob, a combination oven and durable Amtico flooring.
Engine options on the Viking 54 Open start with a pair of MAN V12 1400MHP diesels, with the option to upgrade to twin MAN V12 1550 MHP engines with top speeds of up to 42 knots with cruising speeds of 32 knots. A proprietary Viking hull with an aggressive entry and a raked stem provides plenty of lift and balance as you chase record-breaking marlin, while a fuel tank holding 5,625 liters of diesel will keep you out at sea for days on end.
