The Viking 52SC is a 53-foot sport coupe fishing yacht that was launched by the New Jersey-based sportfishing yacht builders in 2015. This yacht shares many characteristics with the popular 52 Convertible, 52 Sport Tower, and 52 Open, including an identical hull with a superfine entry, but unlike its sister vessels, the Viking 52SC has been built with a sleek, Great Lakes-style hardtop command deck and a unique layout. This model also benefits from the option of a Palm Beach tuna tower to turn it into the Viking 52ST, a favorite among anglers.
The teak or fiberglass-lined 142-square foot aft cockpit on this model has been tailor-made for dedicated sportfishers, and comes equipped with a transom door and lift gate, a livewell, refrigerated fish boxes, tackle and kit storage, flush rod holders, fresh and saltwater hoses as well as a floor plate for the installation of a fighting chair or a rocket launcher. There is also room back here for a split-mezzanine level with a pair of two-seater sofas, a freezer and a drinks cooler. Should you wish to spend your time angling, then there is also room out on the foredeck of this yacht that is safely enclosed with stainless steel guardrails.
The stylish command deck on the Viking 52SC benefits from wrap-around glazing on three sides as well as panoramic windows and a door to the rear that can be covered with a removable Costa Clear protective covering. There is a U-shaped leather sofa to starboard that surrounds a timber breakfast table, while to port you will find additional storage space and full wet-bar facilities. At the front of the cockpit sits the raised helm station with instrumentation installed by Atlantic Marine Electronics. A pair of Stidd helm chairs in authentic leather, as well as a bucket-style forward loveseat, offer plenty of seating options as you use the power-assisted hydraulic steering to head towards tuna-rich fishing waters.
Below deck you will find a spacious lounge area with an L-shaped dining sofa and table to starboard and an open galley kitchen to port. The galley features quartz granite worktops, parquet flooring, a four-zone hob, a combination microwave oven and even a wall-mounted HD TV. Owners of a Viking 52SC or 52ST have the option of going with a 2 or 3 cabin layout, though you will lose some of the dinette if you choose to install an extra single cabin. Other rooms down here include a day-head with a shower cubicle, a single guest cabin and a master stateroom to the bow with a queen-sized island bed, maple-lined hanging closets and its own ample en-suite.
Top range engines on this boat are a pair of MAN V12 1400MHP diesels with top speeds of up to 43 knots and consistent cruising at 36 knots. Balance is excellent thanks to a proprietary hull that was designed in collaboration with the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken. This partnership produced a modified V-hull with a fine entry, an eliminated keel and moulded strakes for efficient planing, plenty of lift and unparalleled acceleration. This yacht can also come with a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer for reduced roll when out in choppy waters.
