The Viking 46C is a 46-foot convertible sportfishing yacht with an open flybridge that was produced by the New Jersey-based yacht building firm between 2010 and 2019. An entry-level fishing yacht designed to appeal to those who want to combine weekend cruising with tournament-ready ruggedness, the 46C remains a hugely popular choice on the used and charter markets.
Lucky owners of the Viking 46C have the option of fitting this vessel with a bespoke tuna tower installed by the Viking Yacht Company's own subsidiary Palm Beach Towers. Alternatively, you can try your hand at elevated piloting from the comfort of this yacht’s sculpted fiberglass flybridge. Here you will find a central helm console sitting across from a pair of teak-and-leather Murray helm chairs. The dashboard has been designed and kitted out by Atlantic Marine Electronics, and comes with navigational essentials such Furuno radar, VHF radio and Northstar chartplotting screens, along with power-steering fixed to a teak helm pod and thruster controls. There is also room up here on the flybridge for a forward seating area and a chilled drinks cabinet, making it a superb place for afternoon entertaining.
One level down and you will discover 121-square foot of dedicated fishing space in the aft-cockpit, which has been equipped with a transom door with a lift gate, cable reels, a tackle drawer, a bait freezer, fish boxes, a recessed livewell, flush rod holders and a floor plate for the fighting chair or rocket launcher of your choice. The cockpit also hosts a mezzanine level with a Sunbrella sofa and a drinks chiller, and for those who prefer relaxing rather than fishing, can easily be converted into an aft-deck entertaining space with a beach-club feel.
Stepping indoors via a sliding door you will find a luxurious salon with masses of glossy teak, authentic leather, plush carpeting and Amtico flooring, all superbly well-lit thanks to recessed lighting and panoramic side windows. The port side of the salon is given over to a sprawling seating area with a low-slung L-shaped sofa at the rear and a more formal L-shaped dining sofa surrounding a dining table amidship. To starboard there is a curved cabinet area with room for an HD TV, along with the walk-in galley. The galley features a cocktail island with a pair of stools, Corian work surfaces, a two-zone hob, a combination oven, under-counter Sub-Zero fridge-freezer units and a large sink. Below deck there are a pair of en-suite staterooms, one with twin bunk beds and another with a queen-sized island bed. Bedrooms benefit from maple-lined hanging closets, plenty of storage space, good height clearance and bathrooms with fiberglass shower stalls.
Top speeds in excess of 38 knots come courtesy of a pair of 1,100MHP MAN diesel engines, with cruising speeds of 28 knots. The Viking 46C’s proprietary hull, meanwhile, features a sharp entry and prop pockets for reduced drag, superb efficiency and excellent balance as this yacht accelerates through the waves. Those who like longer trips out to tuna-rich waters will be pleased to discover that this vessel holds up to 870 gallons of fuel in the tank, more than enough to keep you going as you chase record-breaking marlin out to sea.
