The Viking 45C is a 45-foot convertible sportfishing yacht with a flybridge that was produced by New Jersey-based Viking yachts between 2003 and 2008. A classic of the mid-sized, entry-level convertible class, the 45C remains an evergreen choice on the used and charter markets thanks to its luxurious accommodation, tournament-ready fishing credentials and high-performance seafaring ability. To complete this yacht’s turnkey-ready appeal, many owners choose to install a custom-made tuna tower fitted by Viking subsidiary Palm Beach Towers. Yet owner-operators can also enjoy elevated and elemental piloting from this vessel’s spacious open flybridge. The bridge benefits from a fiberglass hard-top, an open aspect and a forward seating area with a side chaise-longue and an L-shaped sunpad, though its stand-out quality is without doubt the helm station. There is also space above the bait-prep console to place Sunbrella cushions to turn this mezzanine space into an impromptu sofa with an attached drinks chiller.
The Viking 45C’s sedate interiors show why so many fishing aficionados now choose convertible yachts over more utilitarian fishing boats with spartan indoor areas. On this yacht you will find Amtico flooring, glossy teak surfaces and plush leather furnishings, all well-lit thanks to recessed mood lighting and panoramic side windows. There is an L-shaped sofa to port upon entry, sitting deftly across from a cabinet space to starboard with a display setting for a widescreen HD TV. Moving further inside you will discover a walk-in galley with holly-lined cabinets, Corian worktops, Sub-Zero under-counter fridge-freezer units, a 3-zone electric hob, a Samsung combination microwave oven and a cocktail bar with a pair of stools. The salon includes an L-shaped Ultraleather dining sofa to port, hugging a triangular, teak-topped breakfast table where you will enjoy many a sophisticated meal. Lower-deck spaces are just as sumptuous, with overnight space for up to four guests across an en-suite bunk berth and an en-suite master stateroom with a queen-sized bed, maple-lined hanging closets and a loveseat.
A pair of MAN 900MHP inboard diesel engines deliver top speeds of around 35 knots, with comfortable cruising speeds clocking in at 30 knots. A fuel tank holding 848 gallons of diesel will delight those dedicated fishermen who enjoy long trips out to tuna-rich waters while still keeping plenty of juice in reserve. A proprietary Viking hull with a raked stem and a 15-degree aft deadrise, meanwhile, provides plenty of natural balance, excellent fuel efficiency and reduced drag as you accelerate through the waves.
