The Viking 41C is a 41-foot convertible sportfishing yacht with a flybridge that was produced by New Jersey-based Viking Yachts between 1983 and 1989. This vintage model impresses with classic good looks, still-swift top speeds and a durable hull design that has truly stood the test of time. Even though it has been over 30 years since the last 41C rolled off the production line at the Viking shipyard this is still a highly sought-after model on the used and charter markets thanks to this yacht’s sedate interior, tournament-fishing credentials and immense seaworthiness.
The 41C’s open flybridge features an aluminum-framed hard-top, a venturi-style windshield and an optional Costa Clear protective layer for all-weather piloting. You will find plenty of guest seating for up to six on this level, along with a dashboard that has been kitted out with a steering wheel, bow thrusters, VHF radio and a compass. Most 41C yachts that you will find on the market today have been subject to electronics upgrades, and usually feature instrumentation by the likes of Garmin, Furuno or Raymarine, to ensure that your path out to tuna-rich waters is as safe and intuitive as possible.
One level down and you will find a 108-square foot aft-cockpit lined in non-slip flooring that is equipped with all the essentials needed to punch above your weight in the competitive fishing context. Flush rod holders, an aquarium-style bait tank, a pair of fish boxes, stainless steel grabrails, a tackle-center with a carving board, a freezer, a raw-water hose and space for rocket launchers and outriggers are to be found out here. And while this yacht may lack a transom door, it does benefit from the addition of a rear swimming platform.
Immediately upon entering the main deck salon you will find a wet-bar console to port with granite work surfaces, teak-cupboards, a sink, a fridge and a freezer, from where you can mix your dry Martinis. On the starboard side of the salon there is a leather L-shaped sofa with a coffee table, as well as room for an armchair or plenty of additional cabinets. A couple of steps down lead to a sunken galley and dinette area with a full-height fridge-freezer, a Sharp Carousel combination oven, parquet flooring, a Princess 3-zone hob, a double sink and masses of teak-lined storage space. The dinette, meanwhile, features a U-shaped dining sofa surrounding a breakfast table where you will enjoy many a family meal. On the lower-deck level there is a master stateroom with either a queen-sized island bed or a double with an extra bunk bed, though some owners choose to substitute the dinette for a second bedroom. A main head with Corian counters and a shower stall, along with a broom cupboard with a washing machine, completes the lower deck offering.
Perhaps surprisingly the Viking 41C is still one of the quickest sportfishers on the water today, with top speeds of around 30 knots achieved thanks to a pair of GM 6-71TI 485MHP inboard engines. This yacht’s fuel tank also holds up to 430 gallons of diesel, meaning that it is a great option for extended fishing trips out across the seas.
