The Tiara 5200 Sovran is a 58-foot express cruiser yacht launched by the award-winning Michigan-based shipyard Tiara Yachts in 2006. A sharp and sporty form with a fine bow entry, a long foredeck, a swept-back cockpit and bullet-like aerodynamics has been paired with powerful diesel engines to make this one of the most thrilling yachts in its class out on the water today. Ample space across the main-deck to soak up the sun, a stylish and contemporary finish to living spaces, and a lower-deck with a genuinely live-aboard feel makes this a superb option for coastal cruising with the whole family.
A huge hydraulic swimming platform to stern is large and robust enough to host a modern jet tender, while a transom locker back here hosts a davit and provides substantial space for your watersport equipment. Side steps and plexiglass doors lead up to a spacious aft cockpit with teak brightwork, a mezzanine sofa, a transom sofa with cupholders, a pop-up dining table, an integrated speaker system and plenty of hidden storage. At the opposite end of the yacht there is room on the extended foredeck for a double sunpad in cushioned Ultraleather that is surrounded by stainless steel grab and guard rails.
Heading into the salon, open at the rear and benefiting from a hard-top canopy with skylights, you will find washed teak floors, an L-shaped sofa with a cocktail table to port and a wet-bar station with a grill, a wine chiller and a sink to port. Up front there is an optional Stidd admiral helm seat facing a modern dashboard featuring bow thruster controls, dual Raymarine e125 display-screens with integrated controls, CCTV camera feedback, Robertson autopilot, Icom VHF, hydraulic power-steering, trim tab controls, a mahogany steering wheel and Teleflex throttles.
A glazed companionway door leads down to a spacious lower deck with polished cherry interiors, a teak and holly sole, steel accents and partially transparent ceilings. An aft galley features Corian work surfaces, a molded sink, a Samsung microwave oven, under-counter Sub-Zero fridge freezer units, a 3-burner cooktop and heaps of cabinet space. A serving bar separates the kitchen from a dining lounge with a plush U-shaped sofa in leather that surrounds a grain-matched teak dining table, with a loveseat to starboard. There are two en-suite cabins on this level for up to four overnight guests, with a twin room to aft boasting a full-height closet, hanging lockers and a porthole window. To the bow there is a double stateroom with an island bed, plenty of storage space, a work-desk or vanity station and an en-suite with granite-effect surfaces and an enclosed waterfall shower cubicle.
This boat’s performance lives up to its sporty exterior, with top speeds of up to 33 knots and cruising speeds of 28 knots coming thanks to a pair of Caterpillar 865mhp C15 diesel inboards. At the lower speed you will enjoy a range of around 332 nautical miles, while a modified V-hull with a 17-degree transom deadrise and a broad beam proves to be a delightful and balanced performer at sea.
