The Tiara 3900 Sovran is a superb 39.3-inch pod-driven powerboat produced by Michigan-based yacht brand Tiara Yachts between 2006 and 2013. This rugged, responsive boat handles rough waters with ease and maneuvers into dock like a dream. Multiple entertainment and living spaces can be found indoors and out, with volumes surprising for a yacht of this size. The second of Tiara’s yachts to be built with Volvo Penta IPS drive system technology, the 3900 Sovran offers a smooth, swift, and responsive ride sure to delight owner-operators.
Up from the large swim platform with transom storage, the aft cockpit features a sociable dining area. A folding table services an aft-facing J-shaped settee and a long three-seater sofa against the transom. On the foredeck, sunbathers will delight at the generous sunpad, which offers unimpeded views of the horizon.
The helm features a single electronic helm seat with a two-level footrest, a Volvo Penta joystick and engine system, and an optional Raymarine electronics package with two 12” displays, autopilot, VHF, and wind speed/direction display. A raised companion lounge with a removable table allows guests to interact with the captain, getting up only to avail themselves of the helm deck wet bar with a sink, cupholders, and icemaker.
Below deck, owners will appreciate the craftsmanship and level of detail throughout the interior, with a teak and holly sole, oak furnishings, and light-toned walls for contrast. One standout feature on this deck is the mid-cabin lounge, dubbed ‘the theater’ by Tiara and appropriately separated from the rest of the deck by a privacy curtain. Nestled aft beneath the companionway stairs, this space features a perfect conversation area with two plush facing sofas that convert to a berth with a filler cushion. A large LCD television is fixed to the aft bulkhead, with a Denon Surround Sound system to enhance the cinematic experience.
Slightly forward, you’ll find a starboard galley with ample workspace outfitted with a two-burner cooktop, discreet trash receptable, a large stainless-steel sink, microwave, and a NovaKool fridge-freezer. A four-person dinette to port is ideal for late-night meals and rainy-day breakfasts. A cedar-lined hanging locker and opening port holes are nearby. At the bow, the owner’s suite is completely private, thanks to rolling door panels. A bulkhead TV offers endless entertainment, while side lockers and a below-berth drawer offer ample storage.
Equipped with standard twin 310 Volvo Penta IPS 400 diesel engines, with top speeds of 32 knots and a relaxed cruise speed of around 25 knots. These engines, complete with joystick control, offer superb handling and easy maneuverability that makes driving this vessel simple and fun.
