The Tiara 3900 Convertible is a highly popular 39-foot convertible luxury motoryacht first launched by the Michigan-based shipyard in 2005. So successful that it remained in production for over ten years, this yacht is still representative of the brand’s obsessive devotion to quality. On the eve of its original release, Tiara decided its first hull wasn’t up to its own exacting standards – and went back to the drawing board to redesign it from scratch. The wait was worth it. The 3900 Convertible has something for everyone, from sunbathers and al fresco loungers to speed freaks and hardcore anglers. Everyone is welcome aboard.
Those who love fishing will delight at the lower cockpit, which boasts everything your expedition needs, from start to finish: a bait prep center with cutting board, freshwater sprayer, tackle storage, and a cooler, starboard tackle storage drawers with a glove box, two flush floor storage tanks, four Lee rod holders. The cockpit self-drains, making clean-up a breeze. An optional 48-gallon transom livewell, bait freezer, fighting chair and Rupp outriggers are also available.
A portside ladder on the lower cockpit leads to the stately flybridge, which features two Release Marine teak helm chairs with footrests covered by a tournament hardtop. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the five-rod holder rocket launcher aft. Spectators will enjoy the bench seating in front of the helm, with unimpeded views of the blue water. A cooler below the seat is perfect place to store cold beers or bottles of water.
Once you’ve reeled in your big catch, you and your guests can enjoy the welcoming, sociable salon. Surrounded by teak panels and floors, a portside Ultraleather L-shaped sofa offers space to lounge and chat, but also converts to a bed for unexpected guests. To starboard you’ll find starboard lounge seating with a removable table, perfect for quiet, intimate meals. A Clarion stereo system with a remote panel next to the salon entry door controls 4 speakers across the flybridge and lower cockpit, perfect for setting the mood for a party.
The galley is found two steps down from the main salon, with a small pantry, Corian countertops, a stainless-steel undermount sink, a recessed two-burner ceramic cooktop, stainless-steel microwave convection oven hidden behind a teak door, and a Novakool AC/DC fridge-freezer. This kitchen is perfect for whipping up a refined yet rustic Italian pasta or a hearty breakfast of fried eggs and hash browns.
Just starboard to the galley, you’ll find a cozy guest stateroom with two bunks, a 15” flat screen TV, a cedar-lined hanging locker and storage for six rods beneath the lower berth. Forward and to port is a day head with a toilet, Corian countertop and sink with a mirror above, and vanity storage below. A separate shower with a curved door offers owners and guests a comfortable, private place to freshen up for the day.
Down two steps, you’ll find the owner’s suite at the bow. Owners can lay on the plush double pedestal bed and unwind watching the 15” flatscreen TV, perhaps popping in a classic movie on the DVD player. Hullside shelves and upper hullside cabinets to port and starboard offer integrated storage, while a cedar-lined starboard hanging locker features a mirror inside the door – perfect for checking out your outfit. Two reading lights let you and your companion fall asleep at your own pace, while a Martine Air Systems air conditioning system keeps things dry and cool.
The 3900 Convertible was originally equipped with standard twin 540hp Cummins QSC diesel engines with Glendinning top mount controls, Seacruise with Smartcraft electronic displays, and an engine synchronizer. This setup allows captains to reach max speeds of 32.8mph, with an optimal cruise speed of 29.4mph and a range of about 288nm.
